Is it that hard ? the one is a percentage, the other is a fixed amount. Of course, which one is better depends on the amount of life you already have.

Percentage is generally better. If you don't need the strength i'd go with the 16. Try to get big chunks of life on your gear to give yourself a base of good health, then all the passives tank you out. I'm level 52 with 2700 hp.

If you are doing dual totem (Ancestral bonds - cant do damage with skills yourself)...can you still cast a spell linked with culling strike on your character (not totem) and still get the kill? I want to know so I can build up frenzy charges somehow with using blood rage as dual totem character

Both are good. You have to do the math to figure out which is more beneficial. Since % increased life takes into account whatever flat health increases you have on your gear and in the passive tree, having a good mix of both is key to getting ungodly amounts of life.

The real question you should be asking yourself is why not both? You can never have too much life in your build ^_^

You can use Frenzy to get charges; it just won't do any damage. Not sure about Culling strike interaction though. Wait why would you be using blood rage and ancestral bonds in the first place ^_^ Doesn't make any sense at all.

If you want to sell, you can just make a char in hc, give it the item, and let it die so it goes to normal.

I have no idea about prices either lol I'm a total scrub at this game. Last 5L chest I sold went for 17 chaos but it was pure armor. I guess pure armor is most valuable? What about ar/eva hybrids? Anyone know how the base types of armors stack up, value-wise?

Evasion and Armor are the same thing for all intents and purposes generally. Most builds that would be buying an evasion piece are using Iron Reflexes which makes it armor anyway. Hybrid pieces are technically better because you end up with slightly more stats, but it isn't a large enough difference to bring a difference in value.
The only downside to your five link is the item level which means it won't be able to roll good stats. Since he wants it as a leveling piece that shouldn't be a deterrent though as you can't have a good item level and still be a leveling piece, although you're out of the sweet spot I imagine.

Figures, finally get a insane item in a race, 15minutes in.. sadimas, so i reroll templar from witch, then 5 minutes later find a +1 cold linked wand, which NEVER happens. Stuck with templar, made level 23 even starting 20 minutes into the race >< Finished 18th overall with that.

Your a pretty lucky guy, to find a 6l, I'm on the low end for sure, but ive used over 400 fusings, as well as leveled several characters to 80, checking vendors every level etc, I have only 5 5links to my name in that time, found/crafted...

I am trying to build a CI dual totem. And I want frenzy charges somehow! I am already doing Ice Spear + Power charge on crit to build myself power charges. But I am wondering if I can get culling striked link to it as well and get frenzy charges from blood rage?

Using Frenzy will be easier I imagine. CI and bloodrage aren't worth using together.
Glancing through the culling strike topic suggests that damage must be dealt for the effect to trigger which means it wouldn't work anyway. These posts are also a year old though so ^_^ It does work actually according to the last post on page six.
Probably easier to just test it in game, but I don't have a totem character.
