Today was the best day of trading I have ever had. I used the onyx recipe to get 40 ilevel 66+ onyx amulets with 20 all stats, then alched all of them + 10 leather belts. I alched around 1.5 exalted worth in jewelry before this, in which I got a ring/belt worth 20 exalt together. They were both great items for me so I kept them. No crazy GG items this time but after a day of trading I made around 6 exalt.
The newest thing that I have found works very well is to tell people in trade chat your thread number. Pretty much every person I see that posts "wtb onyx ammy with ___" buys an ammy when I tell them about my shop. Some people just don't visit the forums usually so pointing them there works wonders.

So no, overall I am much more happy gambling with jewelry and leather belts. I am almost guaranteed to break even and I can sometimes hit the jackpot. I think the way to get rich in this game is to make smart gambles where you cannot lose and you have chance of winning big.

Glancing through the culling strike topic suggests that damage must be dealt for the effect to trigger which means it wouldn't work anyway. These posts are also a year old though so ^_^ It does work actually according to the last post on page six. Probably easier to just test it in game, but I don't have a totem character.
Yeah, maybe I'll try frenzy since that is probably the only way to build up frenzy charges as dual totem. I'll try out the mechanics with culling strike and blood rage and see if that works though. I'll report back when I am leveled! haha

I can confirm that frenzy stacks work with the frenzy ability on wands, so just use a wand on hit affects are still applied even if the attack does 0 damage (as long as the ability isn't triggered by damage IE:blind, etc.).

The mechanic of spell totems are basically "yourself" casting the spell but with the drawbacks such as -30% cast speed and -40% damage reduction. Therefore your frenzy and power charges would help benefit your spell totem. So I wanted to build up frenzy and power charges on my character so when I put down my totem, it would crit + cast faster

Unless i'm terribly wrong Frenzy adds attack speed, but not cast speed. So it would help Ranged Attack totems, but not Spell totems.

I wouldnt say terribly wrong but you are wrong. It grants both cast speed and attack speed.

Lol, that's terribly wrong for me. Wow, didn't know that. For some reason i always thought it's only attack speed.
And yeah, the game is super awesome. I have played it much more than D3 already, i think.

You must have confused it with the bonus frenzy gets from charges which is different from what the carges themselves do.

While abnormal, using charges with totems isn't bad. Charges are pretty overpowered so it is a good idea to use them in pretty much any build honestly.
You don't want to use CI and bloodrage together because the effects don't work well with totems and CI; not because frenzy charges are bad.
I will be playing an EK marauder (leveling cleave) in the race, but I probably won't start at the race start because dinner is more important ^_^ Will get on teamspeak while I'm playing to see if we can get parties going or whatever. I wonder if the next patch is gonna go live during the race though. That could make things really interesting...

1 month race underway for those that didn't know! Very nice to play in a fresh economy and try out some new builds. Currently playing ele cleave templar for the first time. No idea where I'm going to spec, but I holy sh- do I do a lot of damage (norm act 3).

Haha nice. I'm taking it slow, but enjoying the new economy. Level 44 now and probably gonna finish act 2 cruel tonight. Playing templar for the first time, going ethereal knives + traps.
