This is how it was supposed to be in OB but they decided to screw over CI users by completely reducing ES bonus. CI was absurdly OP. You might have an argument that it was overnerfed, but the bonus was removed for a reason. It was only OP with superhigh level chars with top end gear. The nerf didn't kill just that, it killed CI in total.
They should have left CI as it is and only nerfed High end gear (and discipline like they did).

Energyshield was and is fine though. The issue with CI is that it´s value is the chaos immunity while chaosdamage is balanced to be endured. Having negative chaosresist is managable, being immune to it is not good enough to loose all the benefits of a healthpool which is a lot more than just the durability.

CI post nerfs was still more than viable at the highest levels of play with 4-5k shields, having 10k+ shields was just way way too much to begin with.
|
Don't forget that Zealot's Oath and Ghost Reavers were huge buffs to CI. 10k without any leech/regen might be fine, but 10k with both would have been a joke.
But I like the way they're doing this, which is exactly what most of us expected. Basically the game was at its hardest at release, and they're gradually introducing new strong stuff. With the info from the one week race, I wouldn't be surprised to see a huge balance patch announced, consisting mostly of high level buffs for shitty spells. That's usually what they did in CB.

Remember even tho this is "release" it's still beta and still much more content to come so things will be shifted around a lot and often.

Hmmm, i may be making a new character... no idea. I like my summoner which i play together with a templar when he is online, but my duelist which is a melee focused (sword + shield) on physical damage isn't very fun. It's hard enough to not die in Merciless and he doesn't really do a lot damage for lvl 55. I can farm The Ledge without dying, but it doesn't feel very fast nor does it feel very fun to me. I also can't equip lots of item find, perhaps it's gonna get better though. My dps is only 1,5k with Double Strike and like 800 with Cleave.
I heard elemental damage cleave builds work better, though, so perhaps it's just a bad choice to rely mostly on physical. My guess is you need a very very good weapon to make it more fun. I have had lots of fun in mid Cruel, after i got a ~75-100 dmg weapon with 2,0 atk speed.
|
Did anybody play the Turbo race? How bad is it now that they removed the movespeed cap?
|
Elemental Cleave is so stupid right now. I'm mid-30s, and my Cleave is at 700 DPS. It was at 750, but I swapped an ele damage ring for one with more resists now that I'm nearing the end of act 3.

For softcore: I want to make a CI elemental archer shadow and use Split Arrow as main AoE skill. I need advice on what to focus on. My plan was to get Wrath, Anger, Discipline and Grace as Auras (or no grace if I will be lacking mana). And Blood Rage of course :D
Plan was to use Elemental hit+WED+Life Leech+something and Split Arrow+WED+Life Leech+something (maybe mana leech :D). Projectile weakness as main curse, skelly totem as defense. GR and Vaal Pact (at high levels so to not one shot myself with elemental reflect).
Now I am not sure how to do passive tree. Should I go Inner Force+Static Blows? Or focus on projectile damage and crit passives around shadow and ranger area? Something else? Get Elemental damage passives near dualist and in the middle? There is a nice passive between shadow and ranger that gives 35% pierce, that and projectiles weakness I would have almost 100% pierce with split arrow. Is it worth it?
If anyone with experience could link me some passive build that I can work around that would be great
Would this be OK? + Show Spoiler +

That would've happened 2 weeks ago and you would've logged in to an empty account like me :/ So, good for you

They implemented this 2 days after I lost everything

There's a real need for a better trading/selling system. Trade chats just fly on past, it's weird to have to spam (hourly) bump your thread in the forums or spam your same item every minute in trade chat...
Then when you get offers you have to make party, wp to a1 normal (all of which takes an annoying amount of time if you don't have the fastest computer). Granted, I don't know how D3 does it, and maybe all that hassle makes it harder for bots to clear you out, but still...

died at Lvl 80 in HC with my LA Ranger in Lvl 66 Overgrown Ruin because the group pulled everything to the boss room door. I kind of expected it since I was late to entering, everyone went back to the 3rd floor door to the boss room, and one person quit out of the game.
still decided to go balls deep into the room to see what was there, all I saw was tons of lightning, my framerate being 0, and me dead when my framerate stabilized
don't really care
leveling was getting much slower without a dedicated map group and I was largely running maps in public groups
game was becoming more of a gear grind while I rarely did any trading in HC
might decide to make a new character or look into playing something else
definitely not going to continue playing my LA Ranger in SC

As I get it, they don't want you to really trade. They want people to enjoy the hack'ing and slashing part and not spend half of their time trading, flipping and chatting. This is their approach of this genre of gaming
They actually said multiple time they will not develop a high-end trading system and they sure seem to put low effort in that department. Thoses who actually really want to trade have to bother with forums post, chat spamming and the infamous d2jsp.
I personalty think it's a good approach. Look how fast D3 went downhill, it is/was all about money and it made the "gaming" part unexciting pretty fast. Knowing that all your drop are likely completely shitty and that you can have better item in 15 seconds on the AH for a few dollars killed it for me. In PoE it's way harder to trade so self-found are much more rewarding.

Plus, the fact that the game offers a fantastic array of crafting materials (orbs) is a hint that you should try to take matter into your own hands. More rewarding when you grind through with shitty rag-tag set of gear, accumulate a moderate pile of orbs, then craft yourself a nice piece from scratch.

Yup, trading isn't necessary, I found / made almost all my gear. =|

Too bad dude, playing public groups always has its risks, im in the same boat.
Not going to continue playing my 75 LA mara since its so fucking boring and it doesnt get any better :/
I died for the first time with my lvl 52 FP shadow to a disgusting desync, tbh i dont think GGG can do anything about desync and are milking the shit out of players with fucking useless microtransactions every week before players realize that the core game is broken even tho everything around it is great.
Probably not going to reroll until they do something with desync or if i find a interesting spec to play

So uh, should I be proud for picking this up for a chaos in trade chat or not (already have a 5L as a bowranger).
