It is a huge amount of fun. The first few games will be confusing as heck, then you'll start to see what everything is about. About 100 games in is where a lot of people really start to feel comfortable. Then without realizing you will have thousands of hours played and be in love
I suggest using as many newbie resources as possible. Knowledge is power and it really helps you get a strong fundamental base as soon as you start playing.

low level maps (66-67) are actually easier than barracks/lunaris temple imo. you should be fine to farm low level maps. btw ALWAYS roll maps till they have either pack size, area size, maze, +blue champs or +rare champs. makes getting higher levels maps easier. or just maps in general.
I respeced my melee shadow so I can progress through Merciless again (doing Act 2 now, lvl 60), I am not in danger at all now but my kill speed is low. I probably would not know that if my other guy (lvl 65 trap templar) wasn't going through same areas by oneshoting whole groups with 1 fire trap :D And the melee shadow char has better equipment... ah the fun of melee ...

How does the %hp nodes work ? Do they add to the item affixes, so that 8% nodes means, 100hp becomes 108 from that item? Or is it only base hp working of strength?

Isn't fellshrine level 59? Area has to be 60 to drop maps. Docks farming is the best place to get them which you should do until you're level 70 at least, although it isn't hard to get a few more levels there despite the exp slowing down a bit.

Yeah I did 2 full levels with group in docks, and then 1 full level solo in fellshrine, but no drops either place. Someone told me fellshrine could drop maps, and since it was so quick to solo I thought I'd check it out. When a map drops in docks someone else with lower ms usually grabs it.

Maybe we're just unlucky. Never seen a map drop in a less than 60 zone, but I suppose that doesn't actually mean that they don't drop. You can always buy a few maps to get started if you don't get any before you're 72ish. The level 66 ones tend to go for a chaos.
Explosive arrow + allies reflect elemental = dead. Not playing hardcore yet as I learn the game on a few characters but my latest fire bowrauder shot about 6 volleys of LMP'd exlposive arrows into a reflect pack and I died instantly as soon as they exploded. First time in the game I actually learned and now remember the look of the aura of an elite affix.
I'm sort of depressed about the map RNG (and with my main dying). My friend rushed me to A3, I ran like 7 Docks full clears on Merciless, a lot of cool rares and all. Not a single Map though.
I found city of sarn better than docks in merciless for farming of all kinds, just make sure you dont run into perpetus and get 1 shot by bear trap heh. Better flow for farming than docks means more kills in the same time, lower risk as well. I only had 3 maps when I started doing them, I still haven't done barracks piety or sewers crematorium, level 78. Have about 20 maps, some of which sit, because of bad rolls from chances.
