So here is my current build. I'm a little unsure of where to head next to be honest. Going for a fire/summoner build with fireball/flammability/firestorm and spell totem/summon skeletons.
So I am planning on grabbing the easy chaos resist, elemental resist and life nodes eventually but would it be worth grabbing elementalist and celestial walker? They're pretty close to me already and would give me a bit of extra damage and resist or should I just head straight towards the additional minion nodes?
Also is the increase radius of aura's worth it? I am currently running clarity, discipline with a cheaper mana support gem for them.
Finally are there any glaring problems with my build? I've got a few respec points I can use if something is really screwed up. Thanks for the help! This is my first char so I'm currently a bit lost :D.

Not really. If you are the one bringing the map, it's always better to run with 6 people. Etiquette is typically that the map-bringer gets to keep all map drops and the more people you bring, the more items drops there are overall.

That is true, you don't feel threatened in acts (especially when you know what's coming in area you're in). It's when you start maps that unknown and random can surprise you a LOT.

It would save you the four first points of the templar area, which are pretty bad and mana regen is useless with BM. It's also not a very good build, imo, at least not for HC. Plus, Elemental Equilibrium doesn't work with Wrath + Anger. You need to deal one and only one type of elemental damage. That means no elemental damage on bow/gear/auras if you use Elemental Hit.
Sorry to say this, but LA is better than anything else for AoE, and Elemental Hit is fine on its own for single target DPS. Keep it simple.

I get more loot solo (that I will actually pick up) because the IQ and IR stats I run around with get applied 100% of the time while that obviously isn't the case in a 6 man group

If you can run three maps in that same time period with a group then you see a net gain though. Especially when you consider that you probably don't need to provide all the maps.

What's a decent deal for a 3-socketed (1 link blue-red) searing touch? How many chaos orbs?

Oh.. I thought you were hardcore. That makes sense. There is noway I could justify wearing all that dps gear with such little resist/hp. That makes sense I guess. I have the sickest dps gloves but I'm too scared to wear them since they don't have hp/resist. =(

What are these items that say "% of block chance applied to spells" and are they good?
|
What are the exact mechanics of elemental equilibrium when you start mixing elements? In other words if I do light+fire damage do the effects cancel for those elements? What about cold? Is the effect doubled, normal, or nothing at all?
Edit: the wiki had my answer. Two elements gives the normal-50 on the third and no effect on the other two.
I'm trying to work out a glacial hammer+ infernal strike alternating ele.eq. build where you could still use light auras and weapons.

On February 12 2013 03:04 Archers_bane wrote: What are these items that say "% of block chance applied to spells" and are they good? Yes, these are very good, as it applies to absolutely any spell that deals damage. It works vs Vaal rocks, poison bombs, fireballs, arc, etc. Basically anything that cannot be evaded through evasion. However, for the best result, you need to stack some block %, so you basically need to be a templar. They also stack with each other,so if you can get 100%+ block applied to spells and 50% base block, you basically double your EHP. The weakness of these items is that in the endgame, good rares are much better than these uniques, so you sacrifice quite a lot for that spell block.
@eluv, Elemental Equilibrium has been changed in the OB. The way it works now is that it gives +25% elemental resist to any element that was in your attack, and -50% to the others. So if you deal two types of damage, they both get 25%, and the last one gets -50%. It's pretty troublesome to use, and I haven't seen a good build that relies on it yet, since most builds generally spam only one attack (Freezing Pulse, LA, EK, OP stuff basically), and you don't really need more damage with these.
|
Elemental equilibrium will not be really efficient as you already have fire & lightning damage from auras, so it will increase your damage when you hit fire but reset the thing at 0 as it does nothing when you hit with all elements.

I'm making one right now and my plan is to either double ele hit (one aoe one single) or do ele hit single and rotate LA and Ice Shot. Not picking up EE until level 60 or 70 though even though I'll be right next to the node because it's too much effort while leveling.
EE Bow Marauder with EB.

Thanks for the answer Pwere.
Do yall use alchemy on prismatic rings? And what do yall use your orbs of chance on?
|
Hey Archers_Bane! Use Orbs of Chance on base white items that you want a Unique version of. (Generally an end-game weapon). You may get lucky and get it, otherwise use it on Onyx Amulets. I use them on Imperial Bow's for example for that unique one.
I only Alchemy 11%+ Resist prismatic rings, and usually not even that. I save 12% and transmute them, for more +all Res and another mod, hopefully life. If both rolls are amazing and the ring iLvL is high (60+) it is worth throwing a Regal Orb at it. If below 60ish iLvL you can still Regal it, moderately weaker item most likely OR sell it. Easy way to get Chaos+ for one.

Does the item level of the weapon/armor have to be a certain level to chance to an unique or as long as its the same name?
Also, I've been chancing gold rings to get Andvarius lol, no luck
Interesting idea to transmute prismatics, I've been using chances on them as well. Doesn't regal only add +1 property from the 3 as a magic item to make it a total of 4 properties? Then you'd have to spend an exalt to make it better :S
Also, I got an 18% Bear Trap that I lvled to 5 to try it out on my ice witch, but I don't really think its worth to use atm. I'll try to sell on the forums I guess, any idea if bear trap is even used? 18% is pretty high to begin with
|
Magic items can only have two properties so you're going from 2 -> 3 with a regal actually. Getting rings with six properties you want is quite rare regardless though so starting with two you actually want is a net gain.
18q Bear Trap is worth a lot yes. Probably 4 GCP at least.
