Then again, whether or not one finds the history of a club interesting is completely subjective - I personally find clubs that have gone through great tragedies and multiple relegations/promotions etc. more interesting than clubs who've never had any valid competition since their national league began and have never truly had their ideals challenged. As I say, this is completely subjective And I don't know why you're talking about national sides. I never mentioned them and I certainly never said that the English national team were good, nor would I even begin to make that argument because we haven't been good for a long time. Consistently inconsistent is all England are. Well the pedestal point wasnt about the National team it was about the league as a whole. I actually think the national team is pretty good, and Ive said it. Sure its a top 2 league but its not as far ahead as people are making out to be. And thats where international tournaments come in. Lots of players who dont play in the top leagues and do really well because theres a wealth of talent all over the world and theres alot of good teams around. I didnt say national team now did I.. Again with the subjectivity. Alright dont care anymore. On June 17 2012 08:39 FireBlast! wrote: I dont even know what you guys are all arguing about. Just cool off and watch the Euros. I understand if you want to feel passionately for a team you support, but NO ONE has enough knowledge on politics/economics/history of all the clubs and big leagues in Europe to be presenting some of the arguments I've read in the past three pages. Particularly Rebs, stop being such a douchebag in your posts. Sorry for sticking a pin in the arrogance. Guess that counts for douchebaggery. And actually people do, its called research and I dont mean Wikipedia. Hell theres even books on it. Dismissing arguements on this sort of logic alone is pretty silly. "You cant know because no one knows". Its can at times be barebones but you can find out enough to form educated opinions. Again Ill have you note the England comment was not supposed to be taken seriously and most people know that. + Show Spoiler + As for the Euro's I know Im enjoying them more than you are and certainly will do when Ukraine knocks you out tomorow (yeah +1 for douchebaggery)

In case someone doesn't get it, the guy in the green shirt (Valdés in the first half, some other goalkeeper on the second) plays for the team in possesion of the ball, so he always attacks

Luiz is trash? mata is trash? omg... do you watch football with your feets?

Terry and Lampard have been there since the ranieri days, and have been the spine of the team for years, backed up by Cech and Drogba.

Everyone forgets old Paulo! But he is a Chelsea legend too, mr consistant i won't forget him, a nice man too never a foot wrong on or off the field. Drogba spent 8 great seasons with Chelsea with the core, arriving with Cech and Paulo, fantastic assist he was as everyone knows. Cech, is the greatest keeper in the world, on his day. He still hasn't quite recovered from his head injury but he is still keeping Chelsea in games they should of lost (take this season as prime example). Then you have Lampard who arrived in Raneari's first season in 2001 and was a steal too! He has become the greatest goal scoring midfielder to grace the premiership to date with over 150 goals! Then you have JT, Mr Chelsea, 14 seasons at the club dating back to playing alongside current managers across the world in DiMatteo Zola Pretrescu Poyet Hughes Clarke and many more who might be in lower league jobs, he started his career in a fantastic time at Chelsea when it had real good pro's running its ranks, the reason JT is the man he is today imo. Those are the core of Chelsea.

Sure Cole came later but his impact has been more than sayyy a Paulo Ferreira.. whos been around since the start of Mou no one thinks hes a core player.(nevermind seems like people do) Mata, David Luiz, Mereiles are not core players, Maybe later. Not now.

Paulo skippers the team in Carling Cup games and FA Cup ties sometimes too. His brain is the reason he is a core player now, helping Portugese based players settle into the team in the likes of Bosingwa when he came Luiz Raul Ramires, and the older players we had back a few years Maniche Quaresma Deco, all helped and coached into by Paulo. He is a core member of the squad and as far as i am aware he is still contracted by the club and hasn't been released yet. Well yeah if your talking about intangibles sure, thats something I wouldnt know but hes got fewer first team appearances and probably even fewer starts, than people who showed up 4-5 years ago. If someone isnt playing football for you on the pitch hes not someone you can build your team around and thats what core players are, people you can build teams around and actually play the game. They are the ones who ultimately impact what happens on the pitch.

He is a core member of the team for the sheer time he has spent at the club. He is a Chelsea man now, spent the time here at Chelsea with and without Mourinho and i think he has shown he is a core member. He is 33 and played vs Benfica this year, and to be honest his defensive work with second to none, kept gaiten and co out of the game for a full 90minutes in the stadium of light, pretty good if u ask me Totenham in talks with Blanc Spurs are in preliminery talkes with France boss Laurent Blanc over the manager posistion at Totenham!
