I know a lot of people that find Barca boring, me included. Admittedly they at least have Messi, which is where Spain struggle. Both teams excel at controlling and holding the ball and can move the ball around the pitch with ease. What they struggle with is penetration and are often frustrated as they wait for an opening, so they camp out just inside of the halfway point and keep passing. Without Messi to drive them forward Spain kinda get stuck in this part, whereas Barca can use him to push the ball forward.

You may find it boring but if you think it's passive you just don't get the way Barca plays.

I would define aggressiveness by the amount of snatched opportunities. How many shots from outside the box, how many passes before the shot, was the build up fast, how many people behind the ball, etc.. Barca isn't an aggressive team, they're a team that forces the opponent to play defensively in a completely different way and they patiently poke and prod at the defence. If they score, hurray, if not, then it was the necessary sacrifice to play their own brand of football. They have the world class talent to pull off this possession game. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j155/HooterHoot/lolronaldo.gif

Teams are forced into their own half or they have to waste energy chasing the ball from the back 4 to the goalkeeper. That's why they choose to defend and play on the counter, and if you're allowing Barca into your half and soaking up their pressure, the stats are going to make it seem like they are aggressive and attacking. I think the only defender on Barca who is worth anything actually defending is Puyol. Also Valdes is just awful.

And Barça has played several games this Liga with only 3 defenders lol. I think you guys don't really watch our games at all. Abidal and Mascherano are really rock solid at defence as well. Piqué is ok and Alves is meh, but sick at attacking. Changing subject: I think the 3 nominated players for FWP will be Messi, CR and Drogba. Of these, only CR is playing the EURO which will be huge IMO. If he carries Portugal far he's most likely to win it. If Portugal fails (hopefuly ![]()

You think Parker and Gerrard be a force anyway? Lol Parker most average footballer i have ever seen anywhere. He can tackle and run around for 90 minutes all he does. Doesn't score doesn't make amazing through balls or killer passes, does nothing. Huge blow ![]() Lampard Out Of EURO 2012

I don't think Barca's defense is actually bad at all, just that their play style gets caught on the counter.

I like how every now and then you insist on baiting people with the fallacy by adding a strawman that something is by nature passsive and hence cannot be attacking. What would you call a style aggressive enough to break down teams competently parking the bus?. I like how its gone from non attacking to not aggressive btw. Its certainly not belligerent so no its perhaps not aggressive. But its still pretty attacking. Also gifs that have a string of passes in the defense they must do that all day. Please give it a rest you can start pulling that shit for any team. Kick and Rush against teams defending deep with a team of midgets isnt going to work mind you. Unless your hoping a Drogba is going to come around and have a magic season every 10 years. Pray do enlighten what style "is" aggressive enough". And if throwing hail Mary's is your answer God help you, + Show Spoiler + (just like he did Chelsea hue hue) Also Tiki taka is not just about keeping posession. And the prio is forward pass, or a pass that you believe will lead to a movement forward (triangles etc.). Atleast thats the theory. It relies on pass and move, so standing around pushing it back and forth isnt really what happens, as much as thats what you'd like to believe. They are always looking to move forward. If they arent able to because space doesnt exist or they arent good enough to find it, well thats a different issue. Anyway why even bother. I really really like Jordi Alba, Valencia such a feeder club though, its really sad. Not the best defender but since when did Barca ever have "good" defenders amirite ?
