If France wins the Euro and Bayern the CL, Franck Ribery is going to win ballon dor.

(assuming portugal fail in during the group stage, which is likely)

Holy shit, watching Chievo-Roma atm, and that's not a football pitch they're playing on. That's a swimming pool.
I believe in the almighty Grötslev! -- I am never serious and you should never believe a thing I say. Including the previous sentence.

The FA are such a bunch of overpaid, useless, nob heads.
Listening to that press conference was painful. We took our time and waited for the best man for the job blah blah blah...
They said the same arrogant shit the last 10 times they appointed some useless moron.
We actually had a good manager called Fabio Capello; but they made him leave.

Having said that Roy Hodgson is an alright choice. He's good enough that he might make something happen and unlike Harry Redknapp he could avoid some of the media shit-storm.

The English should just support the team, coach and players no matter who they are. They'll do better if the whole Country gets behind them from the beginning :p

He's fine, i have no issues with his appointment. That said, after getting knocked out in ro8/groups at euros, I'm gonna feel sorry for him as the shit he'll get will be uncalled for, you can only do so much with a mediocre squad, and if anything, hodgson has shown he can do good things with one of those at fulham

Good ol' Roy as manager is great. Look at the great job he did with Fulham, took them to the Europa cup final where they loss to Athletico Madrid, who at the time had Aguero, Forlan and De Gea. Liverpool fans didnt like him because they didnt want to admit that they had a terrible squad and put all the blame on the manager. Sure Harry's got the media on his side but he has never been a great manager. Left West Ham when things were starting to look bad. Went to Portsmouth and spend loads of money and did ok with them. When things got bad there he got out. Now he's gone to Tottenham where he spent money and done ok. But even now with a team better than Arsenal, Newcastle and maybe Chelsea hes struggling to keep that 3rd place he had for so long. Long story short, Harrys overrated and Roy has actually done well. Only problem is I dont think Roy has enough time to emplement his tactics before the Euro.

A quiz thingy I found, which was actually rather awesome with the stats on fans of each country you get given at the end

ah, 2% portugal runner up and 2% Italy the champion /,,/

Also I got about 0% on confidence and 5% passion, 50% on dedication and pride and apparently 100% on knowledge and belief.

e. If I read that correctly, fans of Ireland have the most football knowledge. How come we have no Irish elitists posting here?

Congrats Roy. I've always liked him. He might not be the most accompolished manager out there, but he has a wealth of experience at all levels of football. As long as people don't expect him to perform miracles with this England squad, which is decent at best, he should be fine. Ah, who am I kidding though. The media will crucify him if he doesn't win the Euros. Still, I hope he copes well under such heavy scrutiny and lays some nice groundwork for the future.

Hodgson has a lot of experience, and was saddled with a club in crisis, flux and instability at Liverpool, from owners who didn't want to be there and were hated by the fans to the heir-apparent Dalgleish who wanted it but for some strange reason wasn't appointed. Add to that player-power the likes of which only otherwise seen at Chelsea ('....nah, we don't like the manager. Let's just not play for him until t'owner gets us someone new') and Hodgson was never going to succeed. He has a strong international pedigree and is a solid, if not amazing, manager. Englad to stabilise and he'll oversee the cutting of a lot of players far too comfortable in their roles and speed up the process of moving older players aside for the new team. Results right now are all well and good but plenty of the old guard haven't been performing for a while and should have been at least benched a long time ago to give the youth experience in tournaments.

On another note, why the hell was Redknapp the FA messiah? The man hasn't had any real successes without bankrupting the clubs he's been at. Look at Southampton and Portsmouth, some decent results, he moves up and the club pays the price for short-termism and vast overspending. Hell, at Spurs they've had to cut the youth programme just to try and satisfy his push to the Champions League and they choked with the best Spurs team in decades. Without regular Champions League money Spurs will collapse and have to sell their players just to survive, and meanwhile 'Arry will have moved on again. He has won...what, an FA cup? And that's it. Hardly a stellar career suggesting England managerial material. Or maybe it does, since the other candidates have been in the past Sam Allerdyce (yeah, he didn't get it, but he was ahead of the next person by a way), McClaren (after a single season of over-performance at Middlesbrough, and who was never ready for the role. Maybe in a few decades, but only got the job as a compromise), Graham Taylor (....). We just don't have great English managers, and Hodgson is the most accomplished one to take over since Bobby Robson.

Good luck. You'll need it.
You live the life you choose.
