Not a great game, but a solid defensive performance from City...and Toure...what can I say. They were shit when he was out in Africa...when he came back they started winning again. Go figure. Without him and Vincent Kompany they lacked the spine that held the team together for the first part of the season. The rough patch at the start of the year was a string of bad luck with injuries, suspensions, and Yaya's international duty. Toure is a manbeast...I don't know how he has the skill and pace with his massive figure but his finesse is equal to his strength. He's bossed the midfield like no else which makes me glad to have him in a blue shirt...wouldn't want to have to watch a game with him in the opposition 11.
Yeah he's basically like 'gime dat ball...oh no you aint getin it back until I shoot'. Just like Viera for Arsenal back in the day.

While this is mathematically true, 1-0 is an unrealistic scoreline considering City got up 1-0 and 11v10 early. Under those circumstances I'd expect something like 3-0 if United had turtled and played to keep the score respectable, rather than trying desperately to earn a draw (which obviously didn't work).
Not blowing a 2 goal lead in the last 5 minutes at home vs Everton would have helped a lot more than keeping the first City game to a 2 or 3 goal margin.

Yeah but if the GD was way smaller, assuming both teams win their last two matches, it would still have been very close. Right now even if both teams win their remaining matches, United would probably lose as a result of that GD. Unless they somehow score a 5-0 outta nowhere.

Look you can go on all day about this stuff. They had so many 1-0s and 2-0's like Fulham. Blackburn or Norwhich (I think ?) where they dominated the shit out of the game and couldve scored more goals.
You cant look back and say whoo we coulda done this we coulda done that. What you did have was this weekend. This was the chance to effectively end it. And Ferguson put out that retarded Euro away team that was pretty spineless (maybe Di Matteo's success had something to do with it). United were not United, they were trying to be a team battling relegation against a top 4 side.
They had to give it away and despite the Everton game they were still masters of their own destiny till this weekend. If it had worked we wouldve been all celebrating the masterstroke and Fergies brilliance. But that didnt happen and frankly Im happy the team that came to win, won. Thats how it should be when the opponents are of a high caliber and equally matched. You can blame all the GD's or the kicks orthe naivety of their play in the earlier fixture where they got hammered. But they still had numerous occasions to put this race to bed in the last few weeks or at the very least stay ahead in characteristic "United end of the season run" fashion, and they didnt.
Besides its not over. Newcastle is a tricky fixture with them chasing 4th (they wont get it, my money is still on Spurs) so you never know. The Wigan game was them just not showing up for 30 mins.
United probably have the easier run in. Cool that this goes to the last day of the season. Really great race.

You actually thought England had a chance before?
I hope none of the big countries make the finals this time.

as much as it would be nice to see england up there, I'm gonna take a stab at Germany - France, guessing Spain in the finals is a copout :D
http://www.sharpfanlabs.com/ A quiz thingy I found, which was actually rather awesome with the stats on fans of each country you get given at the end

I think Italy can edge Spain in their group. I want a France v Germany final!

France and Italy are you serious? I hope you are joking, they both have not a chance at all. Look at the last World Cup, Italy and France are just old and baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!
This EM is all about Germany, Spain and Holland. One of the three is gonna win it 99.9%!

The last world cup was disaster because of domenech. No one like him so they all rebelled. France setup right now is solid. Italy is just a hunch i have.

Hmmm.... NO! Just NO! Not even close. Ribery and Benzema and thats it, look at your Defense its a Joke! Who would defend someone like Götze? No one! France+Italy aren't gonna make it out of the Groupstages.

I'd love to see Netherlands doing well but with their defense I doubt it
