But Wenger's argument is sound: Ronaldo is a wonderful asset because he is a marvellous physical specimen. He can play every game at maximum fitness, it's pretty crazy. He rehabs from injury really fast too.

One would be crazy or ignorant to claim otherwise. But that just shows what a marvel Messi is. Also he has 3 Ballons against 1 for Cr7.

It really sucks for Ronaldo that Messi is there and I believe people have mentioned (or it has been mentioned in interviews) that it's a great frustration for him that Messi is around. It's like there's Messi, then a void, then Ronaldo, and slightly after that you have guys like Özil, Iniesta, Xavi. I used to dislike Ronaldo to a pretty big degree, but lately I have been getting more respect for the guy. I mean it must be hard to stay out of the conflicts that Real Madrid constantly has with their primate players (and coach) but he always stays out of it and watches in disbelief. I believe a fellow-TL-poster once wrote in some way: 'Ronaldo stands by and goes like wtf guys again?!'. The whole reason Messi is considered best is mostly because of his football skills, but also because he very rarely complains, he doesn't dive or consort to unnecessary antics and is basically one of the most honest players on the pitch. A Dutch profilic analyst compared him last week to a little kid that goes home to his grandma after the match and gets to nibble on cheerios and plays with his toys after a fun game of football. He's so ridiculously innocent on the pitch that it's really hard to dislike him. Ronaldo has that against him with his whiney attitude at times.

Do people really judge football players on their attitude that much? o.o
