Edit: Final result is Apoel 0 - 3 Real Madrid. Apoel will need a miracle to slay Real on the Bernabeu.

Benfica deserve at least one goal because they have had two really good chances which were saved by cech and luiz but still, fucking awesome for us to get the away goal!!!! Three chances, one defended by Terry with the hand. If I were UEFA I'd rob Benfica too, I'm sure Chelsea brings a lot more viewers and money than Benfica.

Come on Chelsea!! On March 28 2012 05:43 howLiN wrote: Three chances, one defended by Terry with the hand. Could of be worst cross in game but you don't know he hit it on volley from 2 yards away, not doubt it hits his hand but no way its anything but ball to hand. Crazy if you think otherwise. And if you think UEFA robbed Benfica, well you need to see how none of your players have been sent off. Torres Kalou Mata and Ramires all were taken out 3/4 times each and nothing given. Ramires definatly, guy was being kicked off the pitch.

Calm down. I know you're upset, but that wasn't handball. (They have been given, but it wasn't handball) Benfica had loads of chances to score a goal, but failed.

It was ball to hand, he was moving his hands down when he was hit, and it was just a cross not a shot on target. I'll happily accept that Benfica deserved a goal because we got lucky with Luiz's save (he played amazingly today) but I won't accept this handball crap. Nowadays it seems like some people think if I blast the ball at your hand it's a handball. It's only a handball if you are intentionally blocking the path of the ball, read the rules.

Go watch Benfica-Barcelona in the quarterfinals of the 2005-06 season or Benfica-Marseille on the 2009-10 Europa League.

But it wasn't the referees fault! it was benfica's coach fault... That Emerson is the worst player that played in Benfica for the last 5 years... and taking off aimar to put Matic when it's 0-0? are you kidding me? And i don't know how raul meireles didn't see 2 or 3 yellows in that first half... he was so overagressive

Handball is intentionally handling the ball, not having it shot at your hand while you are moving it down to your sides. He had his hands out horizontally to give him balance, as almost all people do when they are running and stopping etc. Then the second he saw the player was crossing, he started to move his hands to his side. Watch the video in slow motion, he starts to move his hands to his side and THEN the ball is fired and hits his hand. No way is that a handball. He did not intentionally handle the ball.

I'm not a Benfica fan but this is bullshit. It doesn't matter if he didn't intentionally handle the ball in the box, he should have his arms by his side, the fact is that he did handle the ball with his arm and it should have been a penalty, anything else and you're just bullshitting yourself.

It's the description in the book... But it's chelsea vs Benfica so the team with most money is always favored by the referee... This was an awful refereeing... There was another handball just outside the box of chelsea... there was a yellow card shown to luisão that wasn't even a foul! How is that possible?? it Was AWFUL! But it wasn't the referees fault! it was benfica's coach fault... That posture is perfectly natural when you accounting for everything. The only situation you can keep hands down is if the attacker has already hit the byline and he can only check in which case your just covering 2 options and the posturing easier but still pulling your hands back and down is hard. My god its like people have never run. And evennnnnn all that considered it was ball to hand. Sure they get given but they really shouldnt, if they do well refs decision he gets the benefit. If he doesnt give it good decision.

Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following into consideration: • the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand) • the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball) • the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement This, of course doesn't give much help at all since most handball penalties are unexpected and are usually determined by the position of the hand. At the end of the day, that decision was at the discretion of the referee - I would think that 50% of the time referees would give that penalty.

I think it was Terry's mistake there, and no one would complain if a penalty was given.

Well you are definitely right about keeping arms close to his body, but it was close range and absolutely no intent from Terry. I wouldn't have been surprised if it had been given, but at the same time it's perfectly normal that it hadn't been given either. Funny even with the aid from technology we can't even agree if it was handball or not XD. and rofl balotelli XD
