On the other hand, Ajax not scoring against a second tier Real XI, who is to blame? But what a crazy playday in general ![]()

No, I admit I haven't seen either of the two. I will state my thoughts after watching the replays: The two Ajax Goals: the first goal is such a tough call, I don't actually blame the referee for that. The second though is a joke, granted. The three goals they conceided however are pretty poor defending. Playing such a high back row without a perfect offside trap, not pressuring the playmaker on the goal and conceiding 3 goals after a long ball over the top isn't stellar defensive work. Yet catching 3 at home isn't what you want if you are safe with a draw, just saying. The Dinamo game: Lyon were 1 man up for 60 minutes, the far better team, Dinamo dissapointed in every single game. Lyon could have scored even more goals. Nothing surprising there for me, apart from the crazy high scoreline of course. Bottom line: I agree, the overall impression is pretty suspicious. The second Ajax goal was weird. I hope for the sake of sportsmanship it wasn't fixed. But, once in a while, stuff like this happens in football. It least I hope it happens and doesn't "happen".

The first goal is really hard to rule for referees. Deflection is always the toughest offside call, and he has a lot more pace than the defender in the situation and they are same height down to the centimetre when the shot comes off. ![]() The defender even is stepping forwards, while he is on full throttle run. Wrong decision, of course, but so tough to call without slow motion.

Wrong decision, of course, but so tough to call without slow motion. You're arguing semantics. The fact is that 2 clean goals were not awarded for Ajax. There's also a rule that whenever there is doubt about the decision, the advantage is given to the attacking side. Also, the linesman was really late in both instances with the flagging, both were after the ball was already in the net iirc. Also, I haven't seen it for myself but read about it; 2 goals made by Lyon were offside goals. The 1-4 and the 1-6 goals are suspicious as fuck. The keeper jumps over the ball and the defenders just stand there. Sure, dynamo was pretty weak in group play, but not that weak. Not to mention that Lyon has scored only 2 goals before this match in 5 games. Don't tell me that Zagreb (although being a man down) can't defend to keep out 6 goals in the second half. Not to mention the lackluster effort they showed in the second half and pictures like the winky winky Croatian defender. There are rumours everywhere on the internet. If this doesn't incite an investigation by the UEFA I'm calling corrupcy. There's a lot of money involved and for a Dutch team, getting to the 1/8-finals is a pretty important thing financially.

If this doesn't incite an investigation by the UEFA I'm calling corrupcy. There's a lot of money involved and for a Dutch team, getting to the 1/8-finals is a pretty important thing financially. I double checked the first goal, the linesman was not late, he flagged the instance the player touches the ball, before it hit the net (although it was hard to miss that one, I must admit). I don't understand how saying that a certain offside call having been called wrong several times in similar occassions because it is a hard one to make is "argueing semantics". Two clean goals not given, still true. I rewatched the Lyon game, who would be bribed in that game? The linesmen? No wrong offside calls to goals. The referee? No penalties or box freekicks, the yellow-red was completely fine. Dinamo players? Why would they score in the first place? Kelava doesn't "jump" over the ball anywhere, the finish was well placed in that situation, and the defenders (where they missed their best centre back, Ademi was fielded in the 2-6 against Real only, the other central back is a fullback if I recall correctly) were already shred to pieces at that point in a game that doesn't matter for them in a competition where they got mauled every match. They didn't give a damn anymore, that I am certain of. And Lyon has the third most goals current and last season nationally, they are capable of scoring. On a sidenote, Dinamo coach got booted yesterday after the match. The performance of Dinamo was not sportsmanlike, that for sure, and it spoiled the competition, and it hurts to see Ajax not go through (I wanted them to go through, too). Rumours are always everywhere on the internet, that doesn't prove anything, we all know that. I hope there is an investigation by UEFA, it is a suspicious situation, but I personally suspect it is "just" bad refereeing in a crucial situation.
