I didn't really understand the appeal either until I tried it, and I proceeded to play it for 10 hours straight. It's strangely addicting. You have to try it to understand I guess lol. That's the most zen-like gaming experience I've read that doesn't involve killing, I'm sold Im just watching it.. and watching it. Not gonna lie, I am highly tempted to buy it just after 5 minutes. I like driving for road trips and what not, and this seems like a lot of fun :D Although driving on the wrong side...
Just choose another country. Most European countries drive on the non left side. :p
I've been tempted as well, but more for the empire building (which I've heard is lacklustre) than the driving.

Anno 2070 is 33% off right now, down to $20.09 from $19.99. I've been looking at it, but I'm not so thrilled about it that I'll buy it now. Maybe wait to see if it drops during the Summer Sale.
Speaking of which, does anyone know what date it's expected to start? Same as last year? There are a few cheapish games that I'd still like to get a discount on but if it's not for a while then holding off may not be worth it to me.

Nothing known when it's starting. Looking at last years it started on a Thursday (1st/2nd July week). So the best guess is in 1 week.

If anyone's interested I just picked up the firaxis pack off amazon for 20 bucks. Includes civ 4 complete, civ 5 with two one expo, and x-com (what I was primarily interested in). Codes validate with steam as usual.

Brave New World is NOT in this pack.

Thats a great deal! BUYBUYBUY if you not already have it.

Bought Saints Row for 5$, played it 10 or so odd hours and felt that it wasn't worth it even at that price. It just does not match up to other games of the same genre.

Just XCom is worth the money. The first playthrough of this game was just incredible. Definetely in my top 5 games of the last 5 years.

I just bought Half Life 2 + EP1 + 2 for $6.50. I still haven't played it yet, and Half Life is the reason I got into PC gaming ten years ago.

It also helps if you play with friends.
