made the poor guy quit modding, so rome2 will not have the usual mod improvements to make the gameplay less arcade.

Go for Stainless Steel mod for M2. Best mod.

The devs also said something along the lines of "The game engine is so complicated that one simple statistic like lethal range is affected by a dozen different things like wind, height, forest/no forest, fatigue and so on". By messing with just one or all of the stats like Darth does, he can affect lethality over range and thereby in different instances edit things that are not directly modifiable. Anyway yeah, Stainless Steel is #1. Broken Crescent #2 imo. Third Age Total War honorable mention because it's a complete fucking redesign of the game to go in Middle Earth and pretty freaking amazing. @Heh_ I'm way way too standard when I play Rome. If I'm Rome, 3 line standard. If I'm anyone else or even Rome if necessity outweighs ease, Oblique order. Then during the fight, hammer and anvil till they break. Elephants OP as fuck

Urban cohorts are like virtually indestructible. The long phalanx units were disgusting. If you manually align Silver shield spearmen so there's no gaps between stacks, literally nothing could go through 5 walls of spears. Until you rained arrows down on them. The elite archers (like the Egyptian ones) slaughter anything that doesn't shoot back at them. Cataphracts could charge through everything and suffer minimal losses. Interestingly, the gladiator units could actually counter-charge and knock cataphracts flying. And finally elephants wayyy OP lol. 5 stacks of elephants could rout 60 stacks of legionary/urban cohort with 0 casualties lol.

You know what counters any archers? TESTUDO! :p I forgot to mention something about FotS. Gatling guns. First person mode. Best feeling ever. Cavalry and all sorts of wicked shit charging at you and things can get really intense. ![]()

DoW 2 was not at all well recieved in the DoW multiplayer scnene. A lot of people were offended by the complete redesign into tactical play.

The recent influx of players from the free to play thing probably makes it not worth picking up DoW2 in itself I guess, although I can only dominate new players so many times before it gets boring.

Not exactly a Steam sale but this bundle has 5 steam redeemable games: King's Bounty The Legend, Tropico 3, X-Blades, Stranger's Wrath HD and Kung fu strike. At a 1$ minimum for 4 games and 5$ for Tropico and stranger's wrath to be included this is one of the best bundles excluding Humble. Steam keys are individual for each game as well.

Is it like that old turnbased Warhammer game or Jagged Alliance 2? It KIND OF looks like that. Edit: Can anyone tell anything about the other games? Only one I know is Tropico. :o

Just the campaign(s) (with addons). But for that price it's probably a no brainer. You can get 50+ hours easily. It's nothing like JA2 or Shadow of the Horned rat (if that is the Warhammer one^^)

X-blades is your run of the mill spectacle fighter, you play a bodacious girl in underwear and you kill things. Kung fu strike is a 3d brawler, TB did a video on this game it seems like he enjoyed it, I have not played it but will probably pick up the bundle. WTF is Kung Fu Strike Neoscanveger, I have no idea what it is.
