I'm looking for a good RPG on steam. As far as my tastes go I'm not a fan of FPS style / Scifi RPG ie no Mass Effect, no Fallout (bought NV while it was on super sale, might try it one day, but right now I just don't want to shoot at people ), I also hated Skyrim.I already have DA:O, DA2 and Witcher 2 (I'm a huge fan of BG style of games). Any recommandations on hidden gems I could have missed or even just decent games that are cool to play? I don't really mind the price or if it's an old game or not. Thanks!

Wonder if anyone else had that? Yep, saw it too. When I clicked on it, it was -75% off. I wonder if that had any consequences. I took a screenshot ![]() Screenshot: + Show Spoiler + Edit: TIL that I need to preview my posts before posting.

I strongly recommend getting the elder scrolls series, like all of them! Everyone has their own preference to which game is better. While all games are outstanding imo they all have their minor let downs with comparison to the others. This is just my opinion: Morrowind is a bit dated and the graphics have aged, but they are certainly not bad. This game is very big and quite deep with an epic main quest and tons of content on the side. Some interesting weapon mechanics aswell that I miss. Oblivion is a visually beatuiful game even today, people will say the main story isnt as great but it is still good. I personally have over 1000 hours alone in this game, there is so much content and some of it isnt marked or anything like that so most players will never see them unless they run to all 4 corners of Cyrodil(name of the land your on). Skyrim has Dragons!!! Dragons that were done very well imo and can be a good challenge when fighting. I once had a member of a fairly important quest get killed by a dragon rampaging through the city. This game is massive in shear size, if you dont use the fast travel you can play for months on end. Overall the elder scrolls is up there as the best rpgs of the last 10 years, they have a great modding community and has tons of content and the expansions for these games are great quality. Buy them :D Skyrim will probably be on sale again on the last day tbh but you could always buy the pack. Or just get each individually because you might not want the other games. Hope i helped EDIT# I just checked the bethesda pack isnt worth it for you since you dont want FPS or fallout, I recommend waiting until the last day and see if any of these three go on sale. EDIT#2 I am having nostaliga so hard right now, Ok going to list some games and if your interested take a look. Fable: Lost chapters, dont need or probably want the other two fables Overlord 1, not really a game you can spend hours every night on but is quite fun for a while As said the witcher 1, its only 1.74 on steam anyway Star wars: Knights of the old republic, I know your not interested in sci fi but this is among the best imo. Bastion, great music and story. These are some that I have seen in the first few pages of steam.

Go on GoG and you'll have plenty of old RPGs to choose from. The first Witcher is also still on sale. Otherwise on Steam, you can try Legend of Grimrock, Bastion etc. Btw. damn you people voting Splinter Cell...

Divinity II is up for community vote, I heard that game is a quite alright RPG. Risen is also ok but it's free on gamersgate so vote Divinity because free on gamersgate is a hard deal to beat. Other rpgs: if you don't have it witcher 1 is pretty good but has pacing problems, M&B games are RPGs in single player I guess combat is amazing and it will keep you going(Fire and Sword has the best campaign but people don't like it much because the guns are one shot kills half the time, I enjoyed it), Vampire: the masquerade bloodlines pretty buggy game install the unofficial patch and it's amazing. Of those Witcher is on sale for 2.50 and M&B games will probably go on sale the last day or in flash deals, the only one not likely to go on sale is Vampire, it is after all an old game and it's published by activision also the developer for that game, Troika, went under in 2005 most of the key people are part of obsidian now though. So yeah check out some of those maybe you'll like them I dunno, enjoy.

Any recommandations on hidden gems I could have missed or even just decent games that are cool to play? I don't really mind the price or if it's an old game or not. Thanks! I bought a game on sale a few month ago called "Avadon - The Black Fortress", basically just an impulse buy, but i can really recommend it. The graphics are pretty dated, but the game is a lot of fun. Or at least it was for me. Apparently the same guy has been making these kind of games for quite some time now, as there are about 10 games from that developer on steam. Avadon is a new story, though, so you don't have to play the older ones. It's not very expensive, and there is a demo if you want to just check it out. There are different endings depending on what you did during the game, including a completely optional last bossfight that is far harder then the rest of the game and might very well be impossible if you did not do the right choices before and/or trained your guys the wrong way. I have accumulated 50 hours in one playthrough, you can probably be a bit faster if you don't do every single sidequest, but it is well worth the 3€ if it is your kind of game.

never mind, for some reason the "normal" version is cut, and the "ultimate" isn't

It depends. It is a very good game, and does what it does very well. It is absolutely worth the 10€. But it also is not a game for everyone. It has a lot of complex micromanaging (not micro like starcraft, just actually managing a lot of things), dealing with different problems, and can feel unfair from time to time since it is inheritly asymmetric. It also does not have the most modern graphic, as one can see from the screenshots. IF it is your kind of game, you can easily drop 100s of hours into it. It is far more complex on the strategic level then TW, but it does not have the tactical level in it. Instead, it has dealing with annoying dukes who want to steal your crown, your cousin from france also wanting to steal your crown, some dude from ireland wanting to become independent during all of this, and all of this resulting from choices you made half a century ago. You chose to marry your sister to the heir of france, and thus give him a claim on your crown because you hoped for an alliance against england, you chose to give the duke of the isles a few more counties to pacify him when you had a 5 year old king because the old king died in battle, and you made that dude in ireland a duke. You could also play as the duke of the isles trying to usurp the crown of scotland, or even as a count under him trying to become a duke yourself.

... In reality I'm not going to bed earlier because I want to play but I could if I wanted to : ) Anybody still waiting for something which might become a community vote? Sale is basically over for me and I'll vote whatever you like.

Crusader Kings 2 is turn based macro strategy. It suffers from an abundance of tasks needed and amount of things to keep track of. You basically have to keep track of 500 people. I didn't find all the people micro fun. I like Europa Universalis 3 more since it is less actions per turn needed for the same combat strategies.

It is not turn based, but you are right, CK2 is a lot about keeping track of people and their intentions. The best description i have read so far is "a game of thrones simulator". EU3 is different, but also a very good game. It has more combat tactics, less micromanagement, and is more about managing your countries external relations instead of your internal workings. Even further down that scale is HoI, with far less diplomacy, barely any micromanagement, but complex combat tactics as a core mechanic of the game.

Now when i start the game, i get lots of popups that apparently i got lots of guns and stuff from some dlcs. I don't want free stuff, but i still want all the content. Which DLCs do i have to deactivate for this? You can just throw it on the floor. =P

Or should i have nothing at all? Edit: Oh, but that is obviously an easy way to solve it, i just start i once without dlc, see what i have, and throw everything else on the ground. I should really learn to think. Edit2: Ok, thinking failed, i still start with all that stuff even after untagging the dlc in the pregame menu.
