Good evening ladies and gentlemen,
I am pleased to welcome you to the very first Team Liquid Blood Bowl League!
Over the next several weeks our competitors will vie to take out one another and ultimately be deemed champion.. Through any means necessary. There will be bloodshed. There will be chaos. There will be a healthy amount of death. However only one team will reign supreme.
Who will it be? ..a nimble elf team? ..the cunning skaven? Perhaps the brute force of the orcs? Time will tell, and it will be glorious.
Without further ado, I present to you our fledgling coaches:

Some basic information:
We are going to have a nineteen game season. You are expected to coordinate two games a week. Otherwise, the rules are basically the same.
At the end of the season, the top 8 teams will have a playoff bracket. But we have some time for that.
Come CHAT with us at #tlbb on quakenet! If utilized it may serve as a good method of arranging games. Thanks to Jaug for getting it up and running.

How tu use BBmanager :
1. Install BB manager : http://94.23.239.117/BloodBowlManager.ClickOnce/publish.htm
2. Make an account with the same name as your BB account (different password obviously)
3. To upload replays, the easiest is having BBmanager open before playing your match. After playing it, BBmanager will pop a little bubble offering you to submit the game. Select the league, confirm the players names and input the match day and that's it.

Depending on how things play out, I think we're going to allow teams to have dynasties of sort. However, if a team gets 'too' strong and is clearly dominating after a given amount of time I may formally request they send them to the Hall of Fame and start anew.

EE if one team become too strong rest teams should try and kill key players. No point to limit teams. There are limiting system in game itself so no problemo. Developing team is best thing in this game and there are teams that are good from start and teams that need 10+ games to become good so if we will have new team every season we will not see many teams in season 2.
Best idea to add new teams is add division system to league - like in best private leagues in BB1 like OrkaCola. BEst 8-10 teams 1st Division next teams in next divisions. But i think we dont need to worry how it will look in future now.

There will be a schedule. The blood bowl client does all of the matchmaking.

Ok I was able to steal a computer which runs BB while I'm away. I'm installing now and should be able to create/register my team tonight. I don't know if I'll be able to play any matches before I get back home on Sunday though.

Nevermind, the person forgot the power cord for the computer, so I won't be able to create the team until tomorrow night.
I was also getting a weird bug where none of the new LE teams models were loading, has anyone else encountered this?
I should be able to register by tomorrow night, but if you need to remove me I can sit out until 2nd season.

This is completely up to you, but if you want either me or someone else to create your team for you, I'd be more than happy to. I'd of course need your user/pass and the specifics of your team (which you could write up while using the rulebook pdf).
If you want to, PM me. If not, I completely 300% understand. Just offering, is all.

I have the team all set up, I just need to be able to log in. I'll see if I can find another computer now, or I can do it tomorrow night after I get the power cord for the other computer.

Ok, I applied for the league with my team Vampires from outer space.
Man, I tried a few test games and Vamp is really hard to play and they are not really very strong either :s
But we will see.

First: To my knowledge all teams have applied. We will officially begin in hour. (5:30 EST)
Second. There are two types of teams in Blood Bowl.. teams that start strong out of the gate and teams that become strong with progression. Vampires are in that second group. Once you become more familiar with their little nuances and a few of your players gain a level or two you'll see their true power.

Zanzabar, since I know most people are probably from the US and there are some europeans here, would it be too much trouble writing down the time zones for everyone?
I understood it as such that we should schedule the matches between ourselves and it would be helpful to know when my opponent has day or night.

How to use BBmanager :
+ Show Spoiler +Replays are autosaved in "my documents/bloodbowl/saves/replays" or "my documents/bloodbowllegendary/saves/replays". They can be replayed in the client by going in single player / load / replay. You can use +/- to make them go faster. Most leagues use BBmanager, which is a neat external tool to manage leagues. Replays of each match get uploaded, and are parsed on a central server and accessible to all. Apparently, the LE has brought a lot of the stats that could only be found in BB manager inside the actual game, but it still gives us the ability to centralize replays for example. 1. Man that was fun. Who knew elves vs humans could be that bloody.
Elves suffered 5 BH and 1 dead.
Humans suffered 1 BH, 1 MNG, 1 niggling and 1 dead.
Glossary for the new players :
BH = badly hurt, no consequence after the game
MNG = miss next game
Niggling = miss next game and add 1 to any future injury rolls on that player

If you're capable of streaming, lots of people in IRC would love to watch them live. The first two games had ~12 viewers each (minuscule compared to the likes of the SC community, but much chatter and cheering!)

Not easy to get a game scheduled on no notice when you're scheduling between different continents. I'm playing Lyter as soon as I get off of work which is unfornutately 10PM for him. I imagine a lot of the games that have huge disparities in time zones will have to be played on the weekends.

as far i know, all game 1 games need to be finished before game2 can go on... atleast it was like that in the original version of the pc game :/

When does league update? Does Zanzabar have to do it manually every time?
Maybe thats a little bit overkill?, we could have it so it updates automatically?

yeah, Zanzabar has to validate each match. The reason is in case there's any turn1 disconnects (like mine,) he can revert them for a regame.
maybe he can give rights to 1-2 other people to do it in his stead, if possible. I'd rather not have automatic ones but it would be nice to be able to do it when he goes MIA.

Is there any way to have two match day's active at a time? ie go ahead and play MD2 while MD1 is finishing up? Would love to be able to schedule 2 games for the one weekend.
I ask, because if MD only rolls over after each weekend, its going to be a 19 week season...

me vs halflings are hoping to test whether or not its possible later today (saturday). Apparently it wasn't in the non-LE but maybe it is now.

One thing I'd like to suggest: If you're going to stream the matches/save them for later as vods, please leave the in-game commentator on. It will not only help people who've never seen it before to follow it easier and will provide some comic relief and SOMETHING there in-between actions.
Watching it without commentators can be really boring...

And one more thing before I forget. I've noticed that some teams are running with pretty low re-roll count (1-2 re-rolls), even ones who need a lot of them (the squishy ones).
Here's a pro tip for the future and a single most important piece of knowledge when it comes to Blood Bowl:
Re-Rolls Before Players
That's it, you've got to buy your initial re-rolls before you buy ANY players at all. If you do that, the re-roll price does not increase (so, if I remember correctly, you get 3 re-rolls for the price of 2 and 6 re-rolls for the price of 3). Also, after you've bought the players and despite already having 3 re-rolls (a realistic number for starters if you want some players and medic to go with it) your 4th re-roll will cost the same as usual 2nd.
And a friendly hint: Wrestle and Guard are 2 best skills out there. Block sucks.

Reroll are half price at team creation, but a bit late for that.
Block is probably the best skill of the game. Guard is awesome. Wrestle has its uses and I would put it instead of block on some kind of players and teams.

You want guard on the line of scrimmage ASAP, strip ball/tackle on defenders, mighty blow + juggernaught/frenzy/piling on on hitters and dodge + stuff on runners, wrestle on low str guys to take down enemy blitzers etc.
Block is ok for later levels, when you have your core skills and can't really decide what to get next, then it's awesome.

I'm having trouble installing bbmanager. It gives me a message saying it didnt install correctly and wont open, does it work with windows 7?

Honestly it really depends on the team, the build you're going for, how well you know the game, etc.
For exemple, for a long term league like this, if i ad picked wood elves, I'd have gone with 0 rerolls at the beginning, buy one asap and get another one with the leader skill.

How tu use BBmanager :
1. Install BB manager : http://94.23.239.117/BloodBowlManager.ClickOnce/publish.htm
2. Make an account with the same name as your BB account (different password obviously)
3. To upload replays, the easiest is having BBmanager open before playing your match. After playing it, BBmanager will pop a little bubble offering you to submit the game. Select the league, confirm the players names and input the match day and that's it.

Oh man, really looking to get Day 2 underway! I know we all (except me) have lives, but remember that we're trying to play ~2 games a week, guys! So if you can play once during the weekend and once during the week, we can stay on schedule for a ~2 month league, maybe even sooner if we try!

What would be the chances of having a forced Match Day change mid weekend? If you want to get 2 games in per week, I'm probably going to need to play 2 games at weird hours (for me) on weekends, because during the week timezones are a big issue.
I'm thinking late Saturday GMT for a changeover:
EU (GMT+0): Saturday 2300h
US (GMT -6): Saturday 1700h
AU (GMT+8): Sunday 0700h
This would mean everyone can play 1 game Saturday and 1 game Sunday and be done for the week. Would propose a Match Day change Wednesday evening as well.
Thoughts? Does this not work for any timezone?

The problem would then occur when someone has plans for a weekend and it would have to be decided whether you should make concessions for his weekend plans or whether he should have to make concessions for your weekday timezone issues. One of you would have to give in, or else the game would need to be ruled a tie to prevent delays. Personally, I'd rather have delays than a ruling, since we're all here to spill some blood and have some fun.
I'm up 24/7 all day every day and currently on medical leave for classes and basically have no responsibilities, so I don't care if I play at crazy times to accommodate people outside my time zone. Obviously everyone else has lives and would love to find a more structured way of doing things- I just fear that issues may arise. I would rather stick to a loose schedule and just change the day when everyone is done than to potentially have to hear about a tough decision of awarding a win to someone because a game couldn't be scheduled before a forced day change. Even if it means we end up playing a 30+ week league, that's what I'd prefer anyway.
If there was a forced day change on Saturday, though, you'd essentially be scheduling it to 1 game per week unless you forced a day change mid-week, too, would you not? Otherwise it would be (for example) day 5 starting on Sunday and ending on the following Saturday. You'd have to say Sunday-Wednesday and Wednesday-Saturday or something.

Yeah not personally worried about forfeiting games if I have to (can play vs Euro easily I think). Its more a case of wanting to firm up some transition of Match Days so that:
1) the days actually transition
2) can start planning games a little in advance

I'd rather avoid any forfeiting because of scheduling conflicts, but it may be a necessary evil if we want to get done in 19 weeks. Up to Zanzabar though.

*sigh* BBManager managed to submit the wrong replay when I uploaded. I dont know how that happened since there was only one replay in the folder at the time (it submitted a replay that I deleted 2 days ago).
Can you delete games from the record?

Yes I could do it or you can. You should be able to find it in the matches tab, in the team liquid league, the red X will delete the replay.

Maybe the league could advance at mid-day on monday and mid-day on friday? so you had one game on fri-sat-sun
one game on mon-tue-wed-thur

Given that the first 10 games have been played in a timely fashion, I do not intend on implementing a forced time limit on games.
If everyone can get week 2 done in 48 hours, we'll move to week 3. If week 3 is done in 12 hours we'll move to week 4. Until someone starts lagging behind, I think this is the way to do it.

i have pretty much made it clear on several occasions that it is supposed to be played tonight :p my opponent havent been around for the past few days, cause of travels.. or something... but i expect it to be played tonight... so easy now tiger :p

At this time there is no reason to give someone the power to fiddle with standings and or the matchmaking. I frequently check to see if all the week's games are done, so be assured that when the game happens you'll know about it.

Seems like the replay I uploaded was corrupt Apparently this can happen occasionally, so let this be a lesson to the rest of you - better to have BBManager open and submit directly after the match instead of waiting to do it later manually
So I had to edit in the score, but I dont think I can do the same for player stats (injuries/TD/yards/etc).

You can download all the games that have been uploaded in bbmanager.
Go in the matches tab, select the team liquid league and you'll be able to download the replays.

Well Match Day 2 can get underway at least! If our game is still 4 days away, I guess that's not so bad since some of us have already been waiting that long for Match Day 2 to start. I think what Lorgoth is trying to emphasize is that it would take you a very small amount of time to log in and give someone admin rights someone, anyone, to save 19 other people from waiting for days. If you give one of us admin, you can take all the time you need and nobody will bother you. As it stands, though, you're asking us to play two games a week and haven't updated anything in 4 days. It's reasonable for people to be impatient when a co-admin could have prevented any and all delays.
I empathize with your illness, but surely tomorrow you can take a little bit of time out of your day to help us out? We'd certainly appreciate it!
