How did the Batterskull work in Wolfrun(I'm guessing you were playing something like that?) Were you pleased? Did it even see much play?

It works because its reuseable life gain. Wolf ramp will have extra mana and pumping a lifelinked thing just starts swinging the game in your favor.

Thanks, I know why they might play it; I was just asking how well it worked. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

EDIT: Oops, that wasn't meant to be snarky. It just reads that way

Token Town did moderately ok, Went 2-2 drop because we were hungry and started an hour late. Expected 140, got 202. Well that's cool. I beat Wolfrun all day, and could have won my other 2 matches had I not kept 1 landers out of greed.

the batterskull is more for tempered steel and various hero of bladehold decks. luckily i didnt play any the entire day. but my friend who also went x-2(got his second loss right before the win and in) played against ramp and he said the batterskull was the best card in the deck after sideboarding. my matchups were

RDW
Mirror
Tezz brew
Mirror
UW blade
RUG(kiblers version? i didnt see much of his deck tbh)
Mirror
UW tokens(i think it is PVs no tap out thing?)

I decided to pony up on MTGO and actually pay for a kick ass standard deck.

RDW (wolf run) I am currently running.
Creatures (20)
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Stromkirk Noble
2 Grim Lavamancer
4 Stormblood Berserker
4 Reckless Waif
2 Hero of Oxid Ridge

Planeswalkers (3)
3 Garruk Relentless

Spells (14)
3 Gut Shot
4 Brimstone Volley
4 Incinerate
3 Shrine of Burning Rage

Land (23)
3 Kessig Wolf Run
2 Forest
4 Rootbound Crag
4 Copperline Gorge
10 Mountain

Sideboard (WIP):
3 Ancient Grudge
3 Arc Trail
3 Traitorous Blood
2 Dismember
2 Tree of Redemption
1 Beast Within
1 Vulshok Refuge

Sideboard: (try 2)
3 Ancient Grudge
3 Arc Trail
3 Traitorous Blood
1 Beast Within
3 Vulshok Refuge
2 Tree of Redemption

So far it is pretty fast, beat a birthing pod deck when I had 1 mountain the whole game. <3 dropping 2 Stromkirk Nobles.

I would try to trade those garruks for koths asap before garruk goes down in price. Koth is definitley superior in RDW. People are just playing garruk because he is new, but Koth is MUCH better.

I might sideboard a Koth & Garruk maybe run 1 or 2 Koth(s) and 1 or 2 Garruk(s) in the main deck, but I like Garruk for his limited removal (2/2, 1/1,2/3, 1/3) creature, his odd overrun ultimate and a little bit of card advantage he gives as well. I will test it out a bit more tonight.

whenever i see people trying to get this kind of "value" out of a red deck i cringe. if you are playing RDW you need to realize the kind of balls to the wall attitude the deck needs. dont fuck around with gimmicky stuff.

your list should probably cut the green except for ancient grudges and run the full set of shrines(best card in the deck by far) abit more burn and some more one drops.

I might drop the reckless waif's and put in furnance scamps or arsonists as well. I am going to run it more with Garruk Relentless and Kessig Wolf Run though, I have heard good things and had some good uses out of these cards with this deck so far. As the meta shifts hopefully it can adapt to it.

Garruk is gimicky but it also enables the Traitorous Blood + Sacrifice combo to get rid of a hinderance creature.

I honestly haven't seen Garruk or any green in red decks that have done well. I did see some good white/red decks that run an abundance of 1-2 drops and both heroes.

see the thing with traitorous blood is that most of the time when you cast it, you straight up kill them. if not you probably have already lost the game.

the small amount of times having garruk turns this situation into a win isnt worth the loss in consistency and speed that not running him will give you.

Anyone have any tech for the UB mirror? Right now I just go up to 29 land and 4 drownyard post-board and hope I get more drownyards and ghostquarters for their drownyards than they do.

We've been trying Jace, Memory Adept. I mean, obviously, you have to stick him - which is already a problem, but UB Mirror is already pretty tough, so it's just another counter war.

EDIT: I should say though, that Drownyard still seems like the best way to go. Just wanted to put an idea we've been trying.

EDIT2: Also, in all seriousness, Reassembling Skeleton, man.

Been thinking about Justin Vizaro's Pox-Blade deck he posted on tcg a couple days ago. Seems so fun and even looks like a viable strategy. what do you guys think of it?
