Screwed/flooded out of the draft with a great R/B Goblins + bloodthirst guys deck. Still got a Grand Abolisher which I ended up trading for an Elesh Norn. Also ended up getting a Jace's Archivist which seems good in the deck, but might not make the cut.

The rares are great but some of the early support is just not there. Glistener elf and the betrayers are pretty loose in your deck imo. You need stuff like ichorclaw and cystbearer to hold you until your bombs, not that many myr .
also, 17 land 4 myr? seems a bit much. did you have no other playable cards? I wouldn't rely on triumph to make the myr useful, but that is just me.

I went 4-1-1 (guy offered draw and I took it!)! Made top 8 at my first constructed tournament! Tired as fuck, will post deck list. It was mono white hahahaha. When you guys read the decklist you will wonder how in the fuck I won, and I will continue to wonder with you (and everyone else at the tournament).

Hotbid! Never knew you played Magic, you should check out my stream!

Looks like the typical infect problem on modo, good cards early but the archetype is overdrafted, so you don't have any good support. One of the reasons I hate drafting infect is that you often have to rely on SOM to give you a lot of playables, and it usually doesn't.

What's the opposite of "power creep?" Power erosion? I was not around for the release of Alara or Zendikar, having returned to MtG around late New Phyrexia, but I just been getting over my general discomfort with things like Titans and Planeswalkers, - my eyes really got wide when I first saw Baneslayer Angel. Innistrad (and I guess, also the whole SoM Block) have really pulled the power level back, I'd say.

To be specific about certain things, I'm a little disappointed with the Counterspells. Frightful Delusion is definitely not bad but nothing brilliant there. Anyways, I have a feeling Standard will be a pretty different animal from ZEN/SOM.

Personally I like the way the power is going. U/W will still be very VERY strong, but ZEN/SOM was very much about control having its way with your children because of jace, and then with the addition of the SOFAF and SOWAP and Batterskull Mystic. I can see the game devolving into what Alara/Zen was before jace. Play titans and win. Which is kinda boring, but defiantly leads to a more aggro heavy format.

So, it's starting to look like the format might slow down a bit. The power curve of Innistrad as a whole seems to be much less than the last few blocks as a whole. There's really no aggressively costed cards that were spoiled in the last huge dump, mostly overcosted rares and crap commons.

I don't really mind if Permission style control takes kind of a beating. Personally, I like well-designed cards and aggressive play. Puresteel Paladin is probably my favorite card from NPH - it's smart, fast and powerful in circumstance. Venser the Sojourner is my favorite Planeswalker because he's the most "Planeswalker-y" Planeswalker. He's like what I imagined Urza would be like as a card.

Of course, there is a place for control in the game. It is usually the most skill-intensive and reasonably interactive but a brief competitive meta of Birthing Pods, White Weenie, Tribal Werewolves and a splash of U/B and U/W Control isn't too bad.

Also, after further thought, Lost in the Mist is surprisingly not awful. 3 and BB for: Counter target spell. Return target permanent to its owner's hand. It's like Cancel with a Kicker, kind of. Maybe it is terrible...needs playtesting.

EDIT: Ummm, sorry Lost in Mist is 3 and UU.

Edit: OH! You mean UU3. U = blue and B = Black for most people, I got super scared for a second X_X Also its not quite Cryptic command, but 2 of my most used modes for 1 more. I like it.

I'm more of a fan of the Cancel that exiles the card in question. It seems extremely useful in a graveyard themed set. The problem, of course, is the 3CMC, but considering the only one mana counterspells left are Mental Misstep and Turn Aside (both extremely narrow), and the only two mana counterspell is Mana Leak (which is good), you might have to go up to 3 in this format.

Lost in the Mist seems kind of meh.. I mean countering their turn 5 spell AND bouncing they're 4 or 3 drop from last turn seems like a huge game changer, but I don't really think that situation is going to arise very often (not to mention you need to keep 5 mana untapped).

Are you able to cast the spell to just bounce a permanent w/o countering a spell or do you have to do both? If you HAVE to do both it seems like it makes the card a lot worse.. I can see situations arising where you want to bounce something, but you can't because your opponent isn't casting any spells.

I can also see just as many situations arising where there's really nothing on the board that's really worth bouncing so your basically paying 5 mana for a counterspell..

I'd rather just run mana leak and into the roils and be able to counter/bounce stuff before turn 5..

I'm going to start playing casually on Magic-League, what would everyone say is the best deck in Standard? Modern? I'm just going to copy a winning list rather than make my own, but, I wanted opinions on what is the best.
