I love the online version, been playing it for a while now, only thing that sucks is the online play has terrible service; slow, laggy, the available games list harldy updates so you never know if you are trying to join a game that is already started, and takes like 2 minutes before it finds out and gives you an error.

been playing alot of mind of the void deck, really fun to play
I'll bite this hand that feeds me, and take it for my own!

sung_moon, current standard is not something you should miss imo :S, way too expensive and some mythics are so powerfull they go out for half a starcraft game a piece. Planeswalkers I think are a bit meh.

There's one particular mythic rare that's $80...

Primeval Titan at $40, Mox Opal at $40, Vengevine at $45.

Honestly, the "money mythics" in Standard are really out of control at this point.

People thought $20 Tarmogoyfs were absurd. And then Baneslayer broke the $30 mark, and there was a collective "WTF" from the community. It's only been getting worse since then.

Baneslayers are $25. Their value has gone down because they've been printed in 2 sets now, so there are about twice as many in circulation compared to the other cards.

Jace is by far the most expensive Standard-legal card atm. Nothing else even comes close.

Yeah it's not likely that anything is going to come close to Jace's cost anytime soon. Might be better to grab some Worldwake packs and pray??

lol my roommate goes to a MtG club here at UT Austin and apparently they've been giving out Worldwake packs as prize packs for their weekly drafts. My roommate looks like he's in the running to have the most points at the end of the semester too, maybe he will get enough packs to get a Jace soon...

Also States results are kinda interesting, mono-green ramp is really popular lately. Apparently they realized that they can not only ramp into Titans and mountains and Eldrazi, but they can now ramp into Mindslaver :V

primeval titan is just nuts. worst scenario is they have a counter spell which you promptly summoning trap. or just play around.
second worst is they have removal and you got two lands out of it, 3for1ing them. rest of the time they just lose. because you will be spitting out eldrazi or mountain dropping for 6damage. oh and whacking for 6/6 trample... all of this on turn 3-5. real balanced.

It's fine. Keep in mind we're in a standard format where aggro decks can goldfish turn 4 anyway, and where control decks that untap with Jace on turn 5 basically just win.

yeah I mean the new Standard is still... new, so of course linear decks like whatever variant of Titan ramp are going to do well in the beginning. Everybody else is still tuning for the new format.

I mean the new Quest for the Holy Relic/Argentum Armor deck had a good showing, as did new variants of mono-red. UW control is still really good. If anything, seeing black show up in top 8s as more than a Jund color is nice to see.

pretty interested in this.. always wanted to put together a vintage deck = =

i play magic casually, only really interested in legacy these days, trying to finish 4 color countertop. also working on completing some sort of survival deck, maybe with necrotic ooze / loyal retainers

i also am a foil / foreign / altered art whore. recently bought 4 foil mox opal @ 60 each and a foil vengevine at 42. trying to get my gf to eventually paint my dual lands to something like this:

Placing that down when I had a token/spore deck pumping mad amounts of creatures out was always enjoyable. Kamigawa block always had some fun stuff in it, no matter how bad it might have been.

For instance:

The mythics aren't as bad as you think right now. This is the perfect time to buy your rares up for the upcoming Constructed season; as prices always drop!

A quick scan of ebay shows prices for those top mythics at:

Jace, the Mind Sculptor - $65-70
Primeval Titan - $30-35
Mox Opal - $25
Elspeth Tirel - $30-35
Venser the Sojurner - $30
Koth of the Hammer - $40
Baneslayer Angel - $17

The prices aren't quite as bad as you think, if you're buying from an IRL card store; they will obviously be more expensive.

Magic Online is a fantastic way to make yourself really good at the game. A good friend of mine goes by the name of "FffreaK" on MODO and... Has a good shot to be the IRL Player of the Year. Quite a second PT season, if you ask me.

Hell yea I loved magic the gathering when I was younger, but holy shit was it expensive. I spent so much money on my decks only for a new expansion to come out making all of my cards obsolete (or at least the entire theme of the decks) and that got really dissheartening once I got into my late teens and to spend my money on more common teenage stuff. Once I leave Uni and get a proper income I'm going to reap the MtG scen again. I love card games such as MtG and Yu-gi-oh and the only thing that stops me is the damn economical drain that they put on you.

I still own a beta version of Black Lotus, Mox Pearl, Mox Jet, Ancestrall Recall and Time Walk use to be my late fathers, I wonder if they are still worth money. Lotus was worth like 300$ when I was growing up. My dad was so heavily into magic right from the start, importing boosters from the US, trying to collect the power of nine ect. When he died I noticed just how much he loved the game, he had every single card from Homelands, Fallen empire and the Ursa Saga, that's dedication. Shame, don't think I every played him even though it was obvious we both loved the game.

People really need to link their favourite card so we can all hate on them for the ammount of time they foiled us. I fear that I will look like an old far but this card was the fucken buisness back in the 90's [image loading]

I'd love to get back into MTG, but I think I'd prefer to play with physical cards and ppl as oppose to the computer.. I really think playing on the computer takes away a lot of the fun but thats just my opinion.. plus I spend enough time on the computer between work & SC 2 =p

I stopped playing around 5th edition so I'm all about the old school cards.. LOVE millstone.. but my personal favorite is Hypnotic Specter.. sorry no pic, but any old school player will know this card.. original artwork was best too.. plus it's funny you mention millstone, makes me remember my old deck purely based on the Millstone / Time Warp / Soldevi Digger combo.. was so sick get infinite turns and win the game through making your opponent discard his entire library lol..

Also those are some sick cards your dad had... if black lotus isn't still the most vaulable MTG card it will make me sad=( plus timewalk, ancestral recall.. all the mox's... would make any old school MTG player drool.. man might need to go dig up my collection when I get home and get all nostalgic heheh

This is true. I was telling my friend last week that if he wanted to play Holy Relic, he should get his playset of Stoneforge Mystics as soon as possible. He just ordered them today and they are twice as expensive as they were last week.

I mean, ebay prices are cheaper because you have less quality assurance than if you buy them from a store. You can't exactly use ebay as a stable standard when comparing card values.

Also, I still would say this is pretty bad, given that a year ago, there were maybe 2-3 $20 cards in Standard tops.

I had the same deck, except with Time Walk, haha. Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, and Demonic Consultation for getting cards I needed (and the latter for getting rid of my library instantly) with boat loads of Counterspells, Mana Drains, etc. and some white removal spells. It could theoretically win with my opponent only getting one draw, but the best I ever did was two. Good times.
Of course, you only live one life, and you make all your mistakes, and learn what not to do, and that’s the end of you.
