Until the blink deck gets more PTing in, I won't use that. Superfriends will be retired for a bit too, think I need to relearn the meta before I play that at the store.
So, here's the deck I think I'm gonna take to FNM. It deeds some tweaking for sure, but has actually done surprisingly well in some play testing.

Mono-black isn't a deck. Your sideboard will never be good so there are just some match ups that you simply can't win in.

I love how every time Judicator posts it`s to bring reality crashing down into some hopeful person`s MTG life. Not that he`s wrong, I always agree with him. He says things you should listen to.

I really really hope planechase comes to mtgo soon. I might start playing again.

But there's something about Phyrexian Obliterator. I just have to try at least once.

Well if you do want to try and make that deck work, add more land. 24 is not enough.

I try to live the dream more than most people. I refused to play Jace in post-Shards Zendikar T2 while playing online, opting for mono-green Elves, UB Painful Quandry and then GW Eldrazi, same when Splinter Twin and Cawblade came into being. Post-ban Jace/Stoneforge, wanted to make mono-black work.
Wanted to play Solar Flare and then enjoyed fighting off Wolf-ramp, then played UB and enjoyed fighting off Delver, playing Esper and enjoying the fight against RG. I just enjoy finding the deck that seems to be there but not quite and tweaking it to no end.

That was a thing? I like that.

It was UB control with extra win more enchantments.

anyone knows if there's a channel on magic online similar to what Auction was a few years back?
or does all trading go through the marketplace tab alone?

Ended up running Judicator's exact esper deck list today at our saturday game day.
Went 1-2, losing match 1 to wolf run on a game 3 misplay (forgot to trigger my evolving wilds to hit my would've been game ending elesh norn)
Won match 2 on a Tamiyo/Gideon combo - actually hit the Tamiyo emblem. Forbidden alchemy is a funny card when that goes off.
Lost match 3 on game 3 to a birthing pod deck. Thalia really hurt (was on the draw) and archon of justice hit my 4th land drop (couldn't play the day on turn 5 to save it).
You couldn't have been more right though Judicator: I never ever felt like Mana Leak was even worth the time with this build, and amass the components was always positive every time I cast it. Will definitely be running that same deck list. Seems strong!
I couldn't find an instance (didn't know when) to side in devastation tide. What MU would that be sided in for?

Whatever match up you feel it's good in, I only boarded it in online testing against random decks or against UW Control since well-timed Tides means 2 activations of PWs.
You need a fair number of games with any control deck in order to figure out proper lines of play or you end up just punting games. I guess the same can be said for any deck, but control just has so little room for error in today's meta.
And I remembered why I had Tide in there originally, it was for the mono-green decks (any version).

< Game day champion here, out of 32 people. + Show Spoiler +
Was playing UB zombies with 4 Blood artist. Played my ass off against delver, UW humans, RG aggro, Junk Walkers, and in the finals naya pod. Sword of war and peace is a good card too. I'd change a lot with my list, and I got pretty lucky draws when it mattered. Terminus is dumb. Bonfire sure, day sure, entreat for 5 sure at least I get a chance to reach, but paying 1 white to completely blow out my board is pretty good. Lost to Junk walkers by that, but we had split into the top 8 first.

Grats! Deck sounds cool too

NOOO, you guys, now I really want to go pull out my cards. The newest cards I have are basically Time Spiral era or thereabouts. What would you guys suggest if I want to get back into the game casually, day9 keeps talking about it haha

Just go play draft and other limited formats then. There aren't any cheap decks since once again this is near standard rotation and AVR didn't really introduce any new decks (rather killing the 2 dominant ones and buffing every other deck in between).
|
I traded a Tamiyo I p1p1'ed for a Liliana of the Veil and a Tibalt. Was that dumb ?_?
|
Tamiyo will see marginal play in eternal/larger constructed formats while Tibalt and Liliana will see more play (by virtue of their mana costs). That being said, I don't see standard speeding up any more than it already is (Swords rotating out) so Tamiyo may be worth more in the upcoming months just from Standard.
It's not a bad trade by any means but M13 will kind of set the tone. Evaluations will hinge on how control will turn out according to Wizard.
|
He told me Tamiyo was $32 on SCG and Tibalt was 14 and Liliana was 21. I basically took him at his word, $32 seemed like a lot for a sleek but only reasonably powerful Planeswalker.
