Most people didn't hear about this game and it was buggy as fuck when it came out but it was pretty sweet. Also, I like how people are just throwing out their favorite RPGs in an "underrated RPG" thread. YEAH FF7 AND CHRONO TRIGGER MANG This.
Underrated kind of implies that there's, you know, someone not rating them well.

Tactics orge was fantastic, so was Tales of Symphonia, and Fire emblem for Gamecube.

Jade Empire These two suffer from the legacies of their predecessors. Lionheart isn't awful, but it's also undisputedly the worst game ever to come out from Black Isle (which isn't saying much, seeing as that's basically just Fallout, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, and Planescape--top-of-the-line in the PC RPG genre). Jade Empire is similarly lackluster compared to other Bioware fare like KotOR, NWN, and Dragon Age.
You'll have to enlighten me, though, on what you see in:

Severance: Blade of Darkness - as the article says, it actually has a small international cult following to this day, but it's also still relatively unknown. People who have played it though, often claim it's the best in its genre, and even a decade later remains unmatched.

I would beg to differ, most of the fire emblem games aren't even translated to English, so have can they not be underrated?

Temple of Elementary Evil (ToEE).
1 or 2 demos existed (and still exist) but the game was never released; too many bugs with saved-games.
It was a pure dungeon-dragon style, with turn-by-turn Baldur's Gate play. Was awesome. So gay it was abandoned.
The graphics were really nice too.

Legend of Legaia was fantastic, and very difficult, definitely underrated.

I've played through both disgaea and final fantasy tactics, I have to agree with you that both of them are great titles. However they lack the difficulty that Fire emblem does. Enough with fire emblem now, am I the only that thinks Digimin world 2 was a great game?

Tales of the Abyss(PS2) is really good like Symphonia(Gamecube). Valkyria Chronicles(PS3)

Valkyria Chronicles(PS3) Again, Symphonia also was released for PS2, and in the PS2 version every char has at least 1 Hi-Ougi (Indignation Judgement ftw!), as opposed to the only 2 (I think) in the GCN version. It's still a great game on GCN, but if you can, get it on PS2 for the bit of extra awesomeness.

The graphics were really nice too. Wait, what? ToEE was released, if you mean the Troika game. It was the first game out with the 3.5 rules. I was never incredibly impressed, but it definitely came out.
Anyway, I'll add another vote for a different Troika game, Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines, and one for Alpha Protocol, which I had a lot of fun with. I don't really think Planescape is underrated by any reasonable standards, or I'd vote for it, too. (Edit: Same thing with Mask of the Betrayer. Great game, maybe not a ton of people have played it, but I don't think it's underrated.)

Breath of Fire is really good. Try to play them since #1 and you are going to like how the story line goes on
