Some character classes weren't even viable at all in the later stages and if you happened to choose one of those you were stuck with one less useful party member. First Bioware game I intensely disliked but considering the way the DLCs are going I reckon it won't be the last one.

Although many of you knock the main storyline, I felt the real "storytelling" in the game was done through the side quests and interacting with the world, similar to Oblivion (though Oblivion was better at this) That aside, I thought the combat was a bit boring. A lot of fights took way too long and became a grind. Tank, taunt the enemies. Mage, cone of cold, both mages, stonefist, rogue, stab them in the back. Mage heal. Repeat.

DA1 ranks amongst the most shallow RPG stories I have ever played. *spoiler alert* Evil threatens the world. You have to gather allies and then kill it *spoiler ending Thats the entire fucking story. No twists, no suprises and they didn't even bother naming the final boss. He was such a lame villain. You never got to talk to him, never interacted with him in any way untill the final fight where he just kinda sits there and you whack away at him. Agreed, I finished DA quite some time ago and after reading that post, I can't even name who the villain is. That's how crap the story was.

We need a new rpg that's following the foot steps of Fallout 1 & 2. Those games were pretty much perfect. And I'm afraid Dragon Age 2 won't deliver, even if it will probably be a decent game if they at the very least fix combat and skills.

I played DAO as a rogue first on normal then as a mage on nightmare. In Awakening, I just facerolled both on nightmare. Not to mention DAA was so buggy and so short.

the reason for that is, that the devellopers wanted to add a voice for that hero, what was not implemented in the original game or the addon.

I pretty much enjoyed the majority of DAO. Later on the stuff got a little bit too predictable imo. I also found that the replay value was pretty limited. So I did not bother to play DAA. Also... I kind of gimped my mages, so combat was horribly hard, especially once the enemy mages got powerful spells. But well, if the gameplay looks slightly better and I am bored I might give it a try. ![]()
