RPG gamers are one of the whiniest, most difficult groups to please. We got badly spoilt in the late 90's and early 00's with the likes of Baldurs Gate, Fallout, Planescape: Torment and Knights of the Old Republic.
As I said a few posts above I played through DA 2 and thought it was a good, enjoyable game. Its greatest crime it seems was not being brilliant, like some of the RPGs that preceded it. I think people sometimes forget what a bad game is actually like.

So it it worth 10 € on Origin? I really liked DA1, played it 3 times. Not so sure how cost efficient the sequel is.

If you really liked DAO, do not play DA2. It is an abomination.
Bioware has said they are going back to the DAO formula for DA3, so just wait for that.

No! Its really bad if you like DA:O. If you like DA:O try Fallout3/New Vegas if you not already have them, or the Witcher 2 is also a exceptionell RPG. But jus try to imagine DA2 never was made.
I still have a New Vegas Ultimate Key left over for cheap if you want. ^_^

I could never finish this game, tried playing it again a few days ago but could only stand to play it for about 20 minutes.. Has to be one of the words gaming experiences I've ever had.

While the sequel is considerably worse design-wise than DAO, it is a reasonable and functional game, still very much worth a low price of €10.

If you compare it to FO3, New Vegas, Witcher 2, KotOR etc that you all can get under 10€ ...its just not worth it at all!

All they really did was disincentivize utility skills, shorten the CDs, and give you more, lower HP enemies to play around with. The combat was fine for the most part (though I found the Elder Dragon fight to not only be harder than the final boss, but also poorly tuned and not very fun). You are right though, less Baldur's Gate, more Dungeon Seige/Warhammer 40k games.
The fact that you could not actually change any part of the outcome of the story, it took place over vast stretches of time where you weren't controlling anything, AND the fact it took place on the same 8 goddamned maps are extremely valid grievances though.
For the record, I love DA:O and Baldur's Gate I&II and I really didn't hate on the combat. I think everyone that's a DA fan should play it because it's STILL a good game, despite the fact it doesn't quite live up to its predecessor (especially if you load a save file and ESPECIALLY if that save file happened to marry Alistair)

Do my decisions and saves from DA1 matter at all?

They make peripheral differences. nothing noteworthy.

Mostly you'll see a bunch of cameos, like in ME2 where random people will walk up to you and thank you for stuff you did previously. The marry Alistair scene is hilarious when you get there.

This.
If you're a big fan of Origins (like I am. Played through it like 8 times now) then DA 2 will feel like a complete let-down for you.
There was a big thread on the Bioware forums a while ago regarding them asking for feedback for DA 2.. And people pretty much ripped bioware a new one regarding it.. So they know what to do differently for the 3rd.

I liked both DA:O and DA2. DA2 wasn't as good as the first one, but is still an enjoyable game.
|
I found DA2 horrible, repeated uses of same locations, bad quests and story wasn't much to write about. Didn't do Origins justice at all.
|
I liked DA2 enough to play through it 2 1/2 times on different classes. The only reason is because I was playing unpatched nightmare setting from the start. Nightmare got the carebear treatment in later patches because people demanded to be able to beat it. I mean they pay for it so why should it be too hard for them. Unpatched though it was fun as hell. It really made you learn that combat system. Admittedly the story got tedious after a while, but I had enough fun trying not to die.
