Jens has a SO powerful Gengar. In silver, that gengar was enough to solo my 25+ level team. 24 level Kadabra can do NOTHING.

But why don't you use Freud to take revenge of EffOrt ?

I dunno, I entered the gym with a lv 25 kadabra and got a few levels along the way on the scrubs so maybe in the end my kadabra was faster than his gengar.

Gengar is 5 base speed faster than kadabra, so if youre 1-2 levels above it then you'll probably go first.

Could also be that your Kadabra got more speed training/had better speed IVs.

Gengar has better base speed than Kadabra. At same level, it's going to come down to some luck. If you're a level or two up, you'll probably be just barely faster though.

If Effort had evolved, though, he might have lived

You dont have that weird giraffe pokemon do you? I always forget it's name but it's normal/psychic and because of the normal the shadow/dark stuff shouldnt hurt it right? But still have the opportunity to throw a psychic attack. Maybe an updated list of your pokeymans would be helpful.

Edit: Girafarig and no theres no way you could have caught him yet damn and I think he's still 2x weak to dark so probably wouldnt work either. IDK must see list of pokeymans if you have a good special sweeper who takes 1x damage from dark/ghost that would probably be best instead of trying to throw a psychic in there which can get hit for super effective by the gengar.
