I've been hooked on this game for the past few months.
I bought it within the first week I started playing and it's been one of the best gaming investments I've made in a long time (I've even been playing it more then SCII, haha).

How often Notch updates it makes it worth it at the very least.

A second play session and I'm already totally satisfied with my twelve bucks. I figured out how to make, with various materials, shovels, swords, pickaxes, some kind of sickle or hoe, how to restore health (although I'm certain there are more methods I have not discovered of doing this), how to get out of water (hold jump), how to make torches, and how the pacing of the game works (build at night, explore during the day.) Once I figure out how to make armor I'm gonna go monster hunting... right now the ranged enemies are too tough for me to reliably kill. I'm also exploring a cave, mined some gold but have no idea what to do with it.

I made a hole in the side of a mountain. Once I've finished converting the walls from dirt to boards I'll have a hobbit house/cabin. Then I'll make a backdoor and start constructing a tunnel upwards. On the other side of the mountain I'll make a big platform sticking out like in minis tirith... you know, the enormous courtyard the burning dude runs down in the return of the king?

Hmm, just bought it, but it won't work. The downloadable autolauncher doesn't actually launch anything - after running it and entering my id and password, it just shuts down. Tried using the browser-based version at the website, but it just blackscreens once it's done loading.

Can't access the forums for support either, as they're down. Blurgh.

Someone already did it

It was done in Creative mode thought.

That's unfortunate. Might be worth actually emailing notch about the problem, he's been known to be very helpful with this kind of stuff. You could also try asking on the minecraft IRC channel

Got it working on my laptop, which is running windows 7. Guess it's vista that's the problem.

Just built my first cave-hut with a door! This game is AWESOME!

I don't know for sure but it sounds like a problem with your java installation (or lack of) you could check out this page to verify your java works/download it.

Yea, i went through all that, and nothing fixed it. Thanks though.

This game is too much fun. It's seriously addicting because every time you make something, you want to make something bigger after it is done.

Nothing's more annoying than hearing creeping and crawling outside your house at night, and not seeing anything. Therefore, I've got big windows on each wall, plus glass roof to help me see when the dawn is breaking. And yea, of course - a big fucking tower.

I've died and lost my gear a few times because I couldn't find my way back home. My beacon system on top of mountains somewhat helps. Seems to moderate spawns around my house somewhat during night as well.
