Crazy result for Schalke, I'm not counting Inter out yet though after their comeback last round against Bayern.

And I agree that Real wasn't impressive (never really liked this team, but perhaps Murinho will make it work). #2: Inter has virtually no chance now. They're as good as done. 4:0 score is pretty much impossible for them in the next match and if they lose even a single goal it becomes near-unthinkable. Pretty surprising scores for a quarter-final stage I must say...

Haven't seen any really great play from him yet since he joined Real, though no surprise there since that club seems to be able to kill anyone's career.

It's his personality/attitude that's repulsive, but if you call him overrated you must've missed his years at United. I disagree, I think Ronaldo's best play has come since he has joined Real (or at the very least, he has maintained his performance from his last years at United). Of course, it does seem to be easier to score loads of goals in Spain, but he has been extremely consistent since he joined Real (and reduced a large portion of his previous antics). I by no means am a fan of Ronaldo, but you'd have to say that he is one of the best players in the world. And I don't think that Real is 'killing anyone's career' as quite a few players are benefiting positively from their time there (Ozil, Di Maria, Higuain etc..). Its only because they are always chasing Barcelona that they seem to be doing poorly.

Its only because they are always chasing Barcelona that they seem to be doing poorly. C. Ronaldo is definately one of the best players in the world. He has been consistent in Spain but I personally haven't seen a lot of things that made me go "holy shit that's awesome". For example his trademark free kicks have been very lacking, and a lot of his flicks seem to just be eyecandy rather than actually helping him achieve something. And like you state, the difference between La Liga and the Premier League is immense. La Liga really feels like a 2-club league, the gap between Barca/Real and the rest of the league is mindblowing. The reason why Real is known as a careerkiller is because they're just mindlessly buying a ton of players, and a big portion of them ends up being very unhappy, benched or simply not improving as a player. That has nothing to do with the performance of the club, it's all about club antics and dollarsigns. I know football nowadays is all about money, but there's a few clubs in the world who are really overdoing it, Real is definately one of them.

You only think he is overrated because, like you said " you freakin hate this guy". I will however, agree that they weren't thatttt impressive, but you have to consider that some of the players have never experienced CL so give them some time to adjust and they will impress =) And for the people that hate CR7.... Don't believe how the media portrays him, if you REALLY want to know him then you should read some shit on him, you'd be surprised by how great of a person he really is. Donates a lot of money to charity, first person on the training grounds and last person to leave, amazing work ethics. He comes off as arrogant because it's just how he's portrayed. I follow RM and i can tell you that he has change A LOT during his times at Man U and RM. He's no longer the cry baby, diving, selfish player he once was. He's a lot more of a team player now.

their strength has always lay in their attacking presence, losing (a) arguably their most important striker and (b) going down to 10 men 15 minutes into a game away to real madrid was always going to be impossible the combination of so many defensive players injured and simply having a defense of lesser quality was always their weakness, and it was painfully exposed 11v10. the red card was completely brainless and fully justified, i have no argument with it. that being said, i still have faith in spurs at home and faith in real madrid self destructing even if no one else on the planet does. also, the fact that ramos escaped without a yellow is an absolute travesty, but otherwise i thought the german ref had an excellent game k, now to watch inter schalke which by the sounds of it should be fun
