Matt Le Tissier was amazing. One of the craziest stats he had was something like 50 pks with only 1 miss or something ridiculous.
Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crown and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness.

Le Tissier was the British Rivaldo. We just never gave "pure technique" type of players any credit

I was not around much when he played, but I'm guessing England didn't call him up more because he wasn't in the mold of a player that hustled and played defense? Those seem like values the English culture holds in high regard.

Frank Lampard had a stat similar to that until he missed like 3 in a row. xD

Strength and Heart comes before Skill and Image. That is why everyone in England fucking hates Christiano Ronaldo and why people love such figures as Paul Scholes and Roy Keane (even though he's a fuckin pscho).

scholes wtf? he is one of the greatest english midfielders ever. he was xavi's favourite player to watch when he was growing up, that should really say enough about him.

carragher is a much better example of "strength and heart"

scholes lol, he has AMAZING technique, specially passing the ball, there are few players in HISTORY that could make the passes and shoot like scholes does

le tissier never being an england star was related to two things. 1: he never really shone for england's A team. 2: supposedly he had some conflicts with english coaches during his peak. he was pretty outspoken about not being picked on a couple occasions and that never really helps.

as a player he was completely loved by everyone. Almost no other player has been liked and respected by so many fans from other clubs. I think he has one of the highest amounts of absolutely gorgeous goals of any player in the world, at least in the past 20 years.. I guess I can think of a couple possible exceptions, but not more than 5.

If you add weight and nationality to a single event you tend to get a positive result here, you most likely wouldn't get that in New York week in and week out. There are some pockets where there's some serious support for soccer. They seem to be pretty nuts for soccer in Seattle, it certainly didn't hurt that the NBA robbed them of their beloved basketball team:

Seattle fans are just thoroughly fantastic, they a massive home field advantage in the NFL.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Nice croud, if they get some Ultrà training course, they could do some awesome stuff
But most likely most of the stuff that makes good choreos isn't allowed in stadiums in the US I suppose.

Thank fuck that annoying international break is done.

Obviously United have got a bent ref as usual. Should clearly be down to 10 and have Evra on a yellow. Second half will probably be like the Blackpool game.

edit - just read much of this previous page, Scholes is one of the greatest English midfielders ever, and it's just shocking how in his 15+ year career he's still not learned how to tackle without getting booked

It's basically close to a reserve team lineup. Kusczcvcahcxhak, Fabio, Vidic, Smalling, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Gibson, Park, Giggs, Rooney

You seen his tackling when he is on a yellow? It's 90% of the time perfect. He knows he can get away with some crap tackles then when he is on a yellow he times them properly
