We just never gave "pure technique" type of players any credit I was not around much when he played, but I'm guessing England didn't call him up more because he wasn't in the mold of a player that hustled and played defense? Those seem like values the English culture holds in high regard.

That is why everyone in England fucking hates Christiano Ronaldo and why people love such figures as Paul Scholes and Roy Keane (even though he's a fuckin pscho).

as a player he was completely loved by everyone. Almost no other player has been liked and respected by so many fans from other clubs. I think he has one of the highest amounts of absolutely gorgeous goals of any player in the world, at least in the past 20 years.. I guess I can think of a couple possible exceptions, but not more than 5.

If you add weight and nationality to a single event you tend to get a positive result here, you most likely wouldn't get that in New York week in and week out. There are some pockets where there's some serious support for soccer. They seem to be pretty nuts for soccer in Seattle, it certainly didn't hurt that the NBA robbed them of their beloved basketball team: Seattle fans are just thoroughly fantastic, they a massive home field advantage in the NFL.

Obviously United have got a bent ref as usual. Should clearly be down to 10 and have Evra on a yellow. Second half will probably be like the Blackpool game. edit - just read much of this previous page, Scholes is one of the greatest English midfielders ever, and it's just shocking how in his 15+ year career he's still not learned how to tackle without getting booked

It's 90% of the time perfect. He knows he can get away with some crap tackles then when he is on a yellow he times them properly
