1) Will you be able to get the highest quality loot from single-player only? 2) Do anyone have a good link that has information about the auction house? 3) Is the auction house going to be online at launch?
I don't have any delusions about making crazy amounts of $$$ from the auction house, but I have no interest in pvp. If I ever get anything worth while, I'll probably put it all up for auction no matter what. It would be nice to get a few dollars here or there every once in a while. If people want my loot, they can have it. The entire game can be solo'ed so yes. us.battle.net has all the information about the auction house that Blizzard has released. RMAH will not be available during launch, they said it will be up a week or so after the launch.
Regarding answer one - I don't know if that's entirely correct - haven't half the the people at Blizzard been saying that once you finish normal, and get to midway through nightmare it starts becoming difficult and a friend would be needed? I know that some of the veteran players might be able to get further than that - I'm not sure just wanting to clarify.
Also someone mentioned that "you could go a week without sleep and be ok" - err no... from what I remember, brain function starts deteriorating rapidly at about 5-6 days, 7 is sending an email to Death and asking him if he's cool to come pick you up for the big trip. That said - the longest anyone has gone without sleep is 11 days - but that was with a very odd condition that included microsleeping.

What you brought up is a different topic to the point that was made. The comment made was in regards to possibility, while you focused on plausibility. According to Blizzard, the entire game is solo'able. They intentionally did this to not alienate those who wish to solo it. Now, although it is possible for one to solo it; the potential of doing so it less likely. For example, they made the point that not everyone will be able to complete inferno. Also, Hardcore inferno is not really meant to be beaten.
As for the sleep; the average timeframe for someone to die from sleep deprivation is 10 days. Of course, everyone is different so there is potential for more or less. But let us put it this way, although you may technically be able to play for a week. You probably wont be fit to play properly. It would be more difficult than playing drunk, so better not play hardcore.

Would someone mind posting the differences here for those of use trying to avoid spoilers?

Blizzard was the first one to say that the way they designed Inferno was that it would take many months, from release date, to anyone beat it for the first time. They made Inferno for the super mega hardcore players that want the absolute best gear and have the time to dedicate finding them. Inferno is not for everyone. So the more casual player base is expected to have enough fun and challange until Hell (if they reach it). If they want more they can get it. But they don't need to do it.
Blizzard has made a game with several degrees of difficulty. There something for EVERYBODY. From the newbie to the casual and to the hardcore. And then there is something for the absolutely insane ^^. They don't expect that everybody have the time or the desire to go all the way but if they want, well, it's there! HF

I was hugely hyped for SC2 and then was very disappointed by it so my expectations are a little more measured this time.

Dude that is why you create a game with a level cap. Just do it so the lowest level can be level 2 then the bots will not be able to join. I was playing D2 but I finished all the quests through normal and now I have refreshed my memory of the story. I need the next chapter in the story. It's killing me. 8 more days, I can make it.

I'm with you buddy. Blizzard has issued me a challenge and I shall rise to the occasion with extreme prejudice.

I'm slow to the party but I noticed a few things, cool or crazy.
1: The Armaddon in inferno deals 170k damage per hit? Wtf? How much hp does a character have?? 2: Achievement Wirt's case scenario: Acquire Wirt's Cowbell. I hope this is a joke... 3: Achievement The 1%: Pick up 100 million gold. hahahahaha Occupy Inferno!

The cow bell is one of the materials required to craft the cow staff that is believed to open the cow level. It requires the bell, the black mnushroom and 2 other stuff.

SC2: I played only 3 games with in race in sc2 beta and was dissapointed, then a friend convinced me to buy it and since then I love it. D3: I played a whole lot of D3 Closed Beta and was hyped at the start, now I'm so dissapointed because the Game doesn't have COMPETITION at all, No Ladder, No Char Customization etc etc

Stacking armor, resist, dodge, as well as reducing enemy damage, is undeniably important in Inferno. If you stack vitality with endgame gear will get you around 20k hp, but there are also affixes that give +% hp in large quantities (up to +100% from what they released a while back). +% hp gear will be very important in inferno for sure. But yeah 170k damage from a single strike of a single mob is pretty crazy, Inferno will be quite a challenge.
