+ Show Spoiler [TLDR version by diablofans.com] + Learning from the Beta The game's difficulty was increased. Even as a tutorial it didn't seem hard enough. Hardware infrastructure was optimized. Difficulty For players the primary thing is to know when to introduce different abilities, at which level to introduce specific types of gear and when to have things unlock in general. For monsters it's when to introduce different types of enemies into the game - heavy hitters, AoE, "beehives" (summoners). You summarize the two previous points and adjust the difficulty curve from those parameters. Post-launch The first thing after post-launch will be a major balance patch. Second will be the PVP patch which will likely also include balance changes. Small emergency patches inbetween. There are already talks about the first expansion. What will make the game a success There are no concerns about how well the game will sell. "Success" is considered when the community reaches the levels of the one from Diablo II. Discarded ideas Among the discared classes for Diablo 3 was the Illusionist. At first the Demon Hunter was a Ranger, but his role was recycled into the Scoundrel. The Mystic might return, but only if there's a good game design reason for it. Console People believe Blizzard are trying to get off the PC market - that is not the case at all. Battle.net It's planned as a social network but is not yet at the desired level. Chat channels and display of gear are still big concerns. Gamespot Interview with Jay Wilson: http://www.gamespot.com/diablo-iii/videos/perfectly-executed-diablo-iii-interview-with-jay-wilson-6374413/ + Show Spoiler [TLDR version provided by diablofans:] + Single player vs Coop We’ve never seen Diablo as a single player game – it’s always been developed as a coop game. We see Diablo as an online game. We think that’s the best experience we can give to players. That’s what we’re focused on. Favorite classes As a designer my favorite class is the Monk. I think because he’s the one I mostly worked on. The core concept of the class and the instrumental decisions on how it should play were mine. As a player – totally the Barbarian. People who know me know that my favorite thing is big things that destroy other things. I love that. Especially with their fists or axes. Innovation I don’t know of a Blizzard game that didn’t get criticized for not being innovative. StarCraft 2 got it, Diablo 2 got it. I feel the reason why is because they’re looking for innovation in a big uppercut punch super-feature. One thing that says to them “this is the greatest thing ever”. We don’t think that’s the way to make games. We think that innovation comes in perfect execution. An innovative game that is poorly executed is not a good game, but a game that’s executed very, very well is always a great game. Torchlight comparisons I don’t have a problem with the Torchlight comparisons. I just don’t think the market needs to be reduced to one or the other. I personally will play both. The two stand next to each other quite well.

I would assume so, as release date delivery is probably 1 day except shipped on the 13th/14th instead of the 15th/16th.

@the new tv commercial At 0.19, doesn't Imperius' hand look demonic? Fiery/black or is it just me.

The Archangel Imperius is a member of the ruling Angiris Council. He is the Archangel of Valor, and is even said in the Book of Cain to be the commander of the Heavenly Host and the leader of the Angiris Council. I think Imperius and Tyreal are bound to fight most of the time. Having fought since the dawn of time and having slain billions of demons since, Imperius is often in conflict with Tyrael, as valor can so often turn to pride, due to differences in their vision for how things should go. My theory is that Imperius figures out that Diablo is being resurrected and opens the ark to destroy Diablo which is in the Sancutary. Tyreal goes to stop him before that it happens. I am guessing he does stop him and then Diablo get resurrected. Leading Imperius fighting Diablo. Not sure what happens probably doesn't win and has to retreat.

Personally I want to by a demon hunter that isn't wearing high heels and a cap/cloak, wouldn't mind dropping $10 on that.

Well different skins would be pretty pointless with endgame gear and even though there are no different models they do have something. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/dye/ Dyes should bring a great deal to differentiate how your character looks seeing as there are quite a number of different selections. As for different spell animations, most runes change the spell animation.

Those changes all just seem so very limited, would prefer something that allows you to set your character apart and not look like every single other character of your class in the game which is made even worse with all gear being in sets.

It's really, really, really hard to get 100% unique characters when everyone has access to the same gear. As for caps, apparently Bashiok somewhere on the forums stated there will be a dye of invisibility which can hide a piece of armor on your character.

So on May 15th, beginning the hour the D3 servers go live, I'll be making my attempt at the current Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon playing a Video Game. Clearly I'll be playing D3.. if that wasn't obvious. The event is set to be hosted at Elysium in Brisbane, Queensland Australia and will be streamed to www.twitch.tv/hzrdirl for the entire duration and beyond 109+ hours. I've already managed to gain support through the D3 Community Fanpage on Facebook, Xsplit is providing support and prizes for the event, MonsterCat Media has permitted me to use their music during the stream and will be linking the stream out to their affiliates and social media. I'm still hard at work at getting more businesses on board and pushing the event as far out there as I can. Their will be a donation system set up for www.justgiving.com/hzrd, through the stream, as this event is being held to support the Sophie Lancaster Foundation in the UK, one of the largest Anti-Bullying foundations in the world. All of the donations go directly to them and will be helping an excellant cause. If you would like to be in the mailing group to recieve updates or if you just want to see what's going on and be kept in the loop for when the stream goes live, you can like Hzrd on facebook or email hzrdtv@gmail.com for more info. If you are interested in donating, please do so, or if you would like to contribute to the event somehow, everyone is more than welcome to do so, just get in touch through the email mentioned. thanks guys, Hzrd p.s. how does this sound for a title "Guinness World Record Attempt: Hzrd goes to Hell"

Does anyone know how exactly they are handling the server open times on May 15th? I'm wondering about US specifically. Will they open at midnight EST or midnight PST? If it is pst, I might not stay up the extra three hours and just start after work on Tuesday... Thanks for the info and an official link or something would be very much appreciated, but not required ![]() Edit: Nevermind, I found it. It is 12am PST, for anyone else wondering. Sigh...

It sounds great in principle but advertising it from a brand new 1 post account makes it look kinda... dodgy.
