That Inventory screen has to be troll. Looks ridiculous.
Blizzard better assemble back in their caves and make that hole thing over again.. There's really not anything which let people cheer for their newest game Gogo, take your time, make a good game. Don't be like ID or goddamn Activision.
On the other side IMHO there is a slight chance that this game brings some surprises on release and be fuckin great. But this hope kinda flies away bit by bit, since they started to release infos/media about it..

That inventory picture can't be legit. It looks so ridiculous.

I was sooo happy about Diablo 3 I was jacked, I was hype, I was going to spend a week locked in my room playing it... I don't feel that way anymore, I feel sad... and depressed. I want to lock my self in my room just so I don't have to play it.
All this new information about Diablo 3 and all this new screen and etc just makes me think, where did Blizzard go wrong... how could they possibly think this is in anyway an improvement over Diablo 2 except in graphics (not inventory screen graphics)
Blizzard games used to be something that was coveted and looked forward to for years, the hype slowly building up until finally that magical day came for the midnight release. Then you'd go home and play it all night without even realizing how much time has gone by. Where is the magic now blizzard?! WHERE IS THAT MAGIC NOW?!

I don't understand what the big deal with the inventory screen is, are you seriously not going to enjoy a game because your paper doll isn't pretty?
Gimme a break...
"I don't like the inventory screen, I won't be buying this game."
Reminds me of that ruining esports shenanigans...

Now I'm kind of happy I never played Diablo II. The screen shots look fine to me, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the game.

The minority (many many many many hardcore Diablo 2 fans.) are getting screwed while people who don't realize why or what is wrong are calling the hardcore fans stupid because they just dont get it.

Personally I don't mind that as much as the previous screenshot but seriously... holy flying ducks, what a lack of details on the items. I hope those are just generic magic items...

Yeah, I mean it works, it isn't something I won't buy the game because of but it feels like a big step backwards. The details of the items in D2 was one of the things that made it awesome imo

I was hoping in the back of my mind that these leaked pics were false ... but the above just confirms it. Diablo 2's artstyle and immersion is the second-most reason I play the game. Based on what I've seen thus far, I feel really disappointed that feel is gone. If I don't get into beta, I'm going to pass on Day 1 and see how the game is from other people before I decide to spend money on it.

Did they just do a copy and paste from the Diablo 2 Item database?
|
lol, one guy complains it's too different and the next guy complains it's a copy paste

I feel like blizzard forgot that what made all of the intricacies of diablo 2 fit together was the gritty textures and environment. It feels like they tried to copy a lot of the D2 characteristics but scrapped the darker and grittier world. It just feels wrong now. (Note, i'm only judging this by the images I've seen. My opinion may change once i've played!)

Lol at the game being ruined because the inventory doesnt look like D2s, from a screen shot 1 year old.

It's not the inventory screen (although that does look like a 12 year old designed it) it's every single piece of media content they've released that makes us feel like that. Diablo 3 is taking basically everything that made Diablo II great and shitting all over it.
No skill trees because we didn't want people to fret over what build to use! Well shit, guess we couldn't add an NPC that allows you to reset skills.
Graphics are mediocre on a lot of levels. I'm not saying graphics really matter, but they DO add to the environment and Blizzard has put a lot of time and money into them anyway, yet they still look really poor.
Gameplay seems really "meh" in my opinion. Action seems pretty slow and I'm having trouble imagining PvP being very good (I hate the Arena too, but I'll let that slide) PvE seems "okay" at this point, but if I wanted to PvE I'd go play WoW or DFO.
The equipment, runes, skills, and attributes parts of the game seem just really poorly done, and don't even get me started on the "use real money to buy items" AH...
I still play d2, have never played GW, and yet I'm more excited for GW2 than D3. I hope I'm wrong though.

I did a google image search for "diablo 2 inventory" and took a look at a bunch of the items there. Not counting unique items, I don't see where this huge amount of nostalgia is coming from. All of the boots, belts, and gloves are very generic. Hell the sash is literally a strip of cloth tied in a knot. For example:

The armor looks like a t-shirt with a bit of texture. I'm going to give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt and assume that these year-old screenshots of low level characters don't express the full breadth of item art in Diablo 3.

This thread gets dumber every day. Holy shit.

Gotta love the ones claiming to be "veterans" of diablo2 and claiming that these changes have ruined the game for ALL of them. Hey, i'm one of them and i'm fine with the inventory.
Yes diablo2 had amazing item graphics, all of them... Loved how the unique shako was colored green instead of brown, what an awe inspiring way to show a truly unique item. rofl.
