@Jibba: Yea Hollinger is ridiculous with the PER arguments. In some instances when the PER arguments start I just stop reading.
@Judicator: Rondo doesn't have to pull up when he has the speed to just burn by his defender for a layup now does he?
When the Celtics do pick and roll for Rondo if he isn't driving he just resets the offense because he's usually not open. Also it's misleading to say that the Magic give Rondo space because when they do he just blows by his man and attacks the rim.
Back to the "can;t shoot jumpshots" period rhetoric. If he's only taken 15 but hit 40% doesn't that mean he is shooting decently? You can't say he hasn't taken enough AND he's a terrible shooter. If he hasn't taken enough then fine - we know whatever evidence we get neither supports or denies this ability. But saying well he's only taken 15, that means he's terrible makes no sense. I've just pointed out using the very shot chart that others claimed would show Rondo as a terrible shooter does not. 40% is decent, 30% and below is terrible. Even if he's only taken 1 3 all series what about the other 14 during the entire playoffs?

Except he doesn't always get it, you have seen his shooting this round has been severely bothered by D12's defense; the floaters he got against the Cavs have dried up. Teams can live with Rondo taking jumpers, that much is certain. The reason I can say that is because he's shot 24/69 from inside the arc and outside of the paint this playoffs, which is god awful for a guard.
No, it's not misleading to say the Magic gives him space simply because that's all he has, there's no reason to give a shooter space period, it doesn't matter who they are. You don't play defense against something that's not really there, do you play the 35% shooter or the 55% drive? The answer is pretty clear.

yeah seriously what the fuck ace. regarding rondo's playoff shooting, no-one with a clue points to a 15 shot sample. it's clear you feel like you know more than the collective nba community on this one point, newsflash: you are wrong and have no reason to think you are right, which is clear from your weak "evidence"
if you wanted to make a coherent argument for rondo's skill as a shooter you could've pointed to the fact that rondo significantly declined this season in outside shooting from the previous 2 seasons (he was still below ave %s on below average attempts however). or you could've argued that he tends to take a higher % of bailout jumpshots (which is true, he led the celtics in fga with the shot clock at +21). instead you offer only your opinion, which has no value, indicating that your views are tied more to your ego and than to any actual facts
ironically your original point that an open rondo 3 is better than pierce shooting a long 2/3 over a double team j might be correct, rondo was allegedly pretty pissed at pierce for not passing. ray allen was momentarily open on the play too when garnett screened carter, then when carter started recovering garnett was also open for a 22footer, both would've been better options than rondo although he was the best option in pierce's field of vision. ultimately pierce just fucked up. his shot attempt would've been ok quality as far as last second shots go had he not mishandled, it was nelson/reddick contesting. anyway i question the decision to have pierce run the last play given how tired he looked, his previous two 3s were way short

Actually he's taken far more than fifteen jump shots, if you take the entire season into account.
And Rondo has about 37% effective field goal percentage for his jumpers this season. And he's shot 33% field goal percentage on 16-23 foot jumpers so far in 2010. For three point shots? We're looking at 32% so far in 2010.

One time I convinced some people Michael Beasley was worth his #2 pick slot more than O.J. Mayo was at #3. Took a few days for that one to get noticed ^_^

ps- Rondo's shot isn't all that bad, but he just can't seem to hit with anyone around with even a hand up.

Nice! Channing Frye's closing in on an all time playoff record.
For the most missed field goals in a row...
|
I think he already set a record for lowest fg%.
|
He also set a record for generating the most crowd noise in the NBA for a standard 3-pointer

what the hell is this? a 3 point contest?

Guys is it the three point contest?
