Focusing on PvT was pretty smart of him, that' what I hoped he would do as he was sure to face Bunny, and it was highly probable to face him again if he loses to soO, so almost sure to make it out of ro32 with only practicing 1 match up

Can't believe he lost to herO. This qualifier was literally a PvP cup, he should have had it in the bag.

Doubt he'll play in the open bracket either as teamless koreans don't seem to.

He's signed up for NA & EU but I don't like his chances much (esp. PvZ cross server would be a bitch).

That said we had teamless Koreans in the open bracket last year, much smaller names than Zest. He'd probably pay his own flight for a chance to fight for the massive prize pool.

The only teamless korean that tried last year was Losira iirc.

The NA qualifier will be mostly koreans anyway, but no chance he gets as much bracket luck as today.

True, I forgot Bunny was still on a team at that point. Still, if Losira pays his own flight - with a much worse chance to make any money and probably less savings than Zest - it's not unreasonable to expect Zest to go.

I think the only teamless big name player who didn't qualify online and didn't go to the offline bracket last year were soO, ByuL and Dear (who I think wasn't actually playing much at the time). Jin Air abstained as a team and then there's not that much depth to the scene anymore beyond that.

It's defitely worth it for Zest to try the open bracket, I just doubt he will seeing how guys like soO. Classic, Dear etc didn't.

And he definitely got lucky with the bracket today. PvP is the only matchup he's consistantly the best at. He would have gone through the same players as when he won the IEM Pyeongchang qualifier

Zest isn't the best player in the world atm. Can't expect him to win against players of that level all the time sadly

He IS the best PvP player however. So he shouldn't be losing so easily in what would have been an all-protoss run

Maybe. But even if he is he's not miles ahead of players like Classic and herO. Losing 1-2 to herO isn't a big deal really.

Yea even if Zest is a PvP beast, herO is far from being bad at it, so especially in a BO3 things can happen really fast

Even if Zest is a PvP beast, he seems to lose to herO VERY often lately (and by lately I mean ever since last year). It seems to me that herO just knows Zest's play style really well and know exactly how to counter him.

His side of the bracket seems to be quite difficult but with the Lower Bracket I really hope that he would be able to do it

I think he is quite lucky with his bracket: he "only" has Dear, TY and Elazer while there are Special, SoO, Stats, Maru, Losira and Scarlett in the other bracket. I think he has more chance to qualify in the upper bracket than in the loser's bracket.

His bracket is doable but not easy by any means. TY form is dependant how tilted he is against toss. Has and Elazer could also be problems if he doesn't take them seriously.
