In respect of SSL. Maru is a player that when he has time to prepare he can destroy anyone. The format is new and he had played his (amazing) code A games just the day before and had Proleague games close to SSL too. He just had a bad day and the format is new for the players. Wouldn't be too concerned about it but annoying that he's not in SSL.

To be honest I felt frustrated. Went to sleep immediately after watching VOD lol

Btw I think that Maru lacks somethings that would replace Flash as "God" in SC2. Is he too young? Idk how old Flash was when he dominated SC1, so I have no idea. And why does one need time to prepare when he was so perfect in PL by beating almost everyone?

They both won one Starleague around 15 or 16. FlaSh was like 17 or 18 when he went on a tear in 2010 I think. Maru is.. 18 or 19 now?

I don't think anybody will ever get close to FlaSh level of domination. Even if Inno, Zest, Maru or sOs win a few more GSL's or Blizzcons it wouldn't bring them close.

Because he prepares for each match in Proleague, by that I mean prepares specifically with his opponents play style in mind and caters his build accordingly.

SSL is play many games against many players, it is harder to prepare for a single opponent. Some players are better in that format, some players are enter at preparing for specific opponents.

SC1 is a different game, I wouldn't say Maru is missing something that would make him a god as Flash was in Brood War. Flash did not dominate at all when he transitioned to SC2. The two games require different skill sets and the gameplay of SC2 makes it much harder to dominate in than in Brood War. I will explain why I think this if you want me too

Sure, your knowledge about the game is much better than mine. I really want to know what you think about this. Its just that I think that Maru lacks the consistency of a real "god", for example, in some matches, he lost in a very "passive" way ( Maru vs soO SPL 2016 R1 playoffs final).
What do you think?

LotV isn't suited for that. On WoL mvp could have been the one to do it with good health, however it is hard to say for sure.

He's just a better player in that team environment it seems. He's already a prodigious talent but maybe he's a 'late bloomer' in terms of getting that killer instinct mindset. Everyone has their own strengths, weaknesses, and learning curves.

I don't know if something was bothering him or it was just the pressure but Maru looked REALLY upset yesterday. He just didn't look good even before the games started.

There are almost no announced tournaments left for anyone this year. At this point for foreigners there's 1 event before Blizzcon and nothing "WCS only" after Blizzcon. The Alibaba event has qualifiers for every region including Korea, Maru could play in that, and in December there's IEM Korea which is a Korean event.

Also you say this as if it's exclusively Dreamhack, IEM and Blizzard to blame and not also Maru's fault for failing outside of Proleague this year.

maru isn't the guy hosting tournaments

dreamhack, IEM and blizzard are the guys cock-blocking koreans from playing in tournaments which were previously open and international. anyone goes in those events, except for koreans

honestly i whine about maru but this applies to basically all koreans in Korea

i don't care much about blizzcon, it's just that it's august for crying out loud, the year is 8/12 aka 3/4s over and maru and his korean buddies are no longer allowed to play in tournaments barring like one, maybe two event

He's the guy getting eliminated from the ones he's allowed to play in. And as I said, it's not like foreigners have more to play in right now. And anything before right now Maru wouldn't have played in anyway

yeah, he's allowed to play 5 tournaments this year, pretty much :/ discounting PL

you tell me if 5 tournaments, especially when they're the most ridiculously stacked tournies in the world, is nice for any professional player? :/

just to be clear, i'm whining about maru but this really applies to all the korean players

There's always the chance IEM Gyeonggi will be a global event or something.

IIRC it's a Korean event. Not Global, not WCS Circuit, just Korean.

It is so late in the year, that actually nobody knows if it will be connected to any sort of WCS and if it is, it will be WCS 2017.
