NOTE: This is NOT KT_violet! They get confused all the time due to aliases. viOlet's TLPD link: viOLet
FAQ:
Will viOLet be moving to South Korea to compete in GSL Season 3? NO. He will NOT be moving to South Korea, he will remain in Austin, TX.
Will viOLet begin streaming again? YES. After MLG Anaheim he will be streaming once again, hype it and mark your calendars!
Is there a way I can contact viOLet? If it's urgent, please PM csn_andrew on TL. If you want to send him a cheerful greeting, please refer to his Twitter which is listed below (@Empire_viOLet)
I've been wanting some replays of viOLet. Hold your horses, there's stuff on the way.
A Zerg player by heart, viOLet was a member of the original Starcraft 2 team anonunced by Dutch professional gaming team and organization Serious Gaming. Although presented as apart of the team, he was inactive due to finishing up his prestigious career in the Warcraft 3:Frozen Throne scene, more well-known in that era as an Orc player much like Grubby was. He was born December 5th, 1990 and is now a professional Starcraft 2 player who plays for Team Empire, but things never were easy for the champion of the game that we look at as someone that has had the easy road his whole life in professional gaming.
During his stay at SK-Gaming while active in the WC3 scene, viOLet's house was burnt to the ground; as a result, his father was ill from the smoke and viOLet had to rescue his father from injuries that could have been much worse, forcing viOLet to fall ill and eventually retire from the professional gaming scene permanently until the release of Starcraft 2 came about. There's much more to this man's life story, but regarding his Starcraft 2 career, he was taken in by Andrew Tomlinson -- Founder/CEO of CyberSportsNetwork, after being let off by Team AZK after IPL3 in 2011; since then, he's been living with Andrew in Austin, TX and strives to become a legal United States citizen in the near future so he can live here permanently. I've done my best to expose his career and story through the website I work for, Cadred, and have various interviews and articles about viOLet which you can find in the "Interviews" tab of this fan club page. viOLet is one of very few players to hold Rank 1 GM on both the EU and NA server at the same time among many other feats of skill.
He's famous for his unique Zerg strategies that don't go by textbook rules, and his various drops and nydus worm plays that have won him his fan's hearts, but most of all it's his personality and his hospitality towards anyone he comes across that really is the reason so many newcomers and veterans of the professional gaming scene have come to love this guy. viOLet currently plays for Team Empire, a Russian gaming organization known for their other star player Kas.
After seeing him never getting the credit he deserved in wc3 and being despised in the western community for something he never said, I can't wait for him to get revenge in sc2 and prove what an awesome player he is.
sign me up! im hoping he generates enough hype and gets signed to a power house foregin team. EG maybe =D? Unfortunately they would probably have to cut Lz or strfecro to make that happen and I don't see them doing that anytime soon =[/

Are you saying that because I'm trying to help the program that funds him by adding a banner at the top of the OP? Apologies for helping a player I've supported since day one.
viOlet is streaming now. He is listening to Western music. He also said "Jesus Christ" one time. And "brother from another mother", probably to practice his r. What a dude
Just watched viOLet interview from CSN ! What an awesome dude! Looking for a foreign team.. TL would srsly be the perfect match.. But they just got Zenio .. hmmm.. I hope he finds a great foreign team!
Sign me up, awesome stream that is very fun to watch because of his aggressive style. Also, he is too good, he deserves a win in some major tournament!
I link him this every few days and he really appreciates all of the support. Make sure to donate $10 to CSN if possible to allow them to continue the Training Camp program/support viOlet!
Loved him as a player, after reading these articles and seeing the CSN interview I think it is safe to say he is just an incredible person, viOlet hwaiting! Oh, and sign me up
Absolutely beautiful ZvP clinic! Any Zerg that still thinks Roach/Hydra/Corrupter is viable should check out this series against Liquid.Hero. Denying the Protoss' 3rd base, putting on immense aggression. Just textbook.
ViOlet, one of my fav zerg players, has done it again. MKP really shows how good terran can be with good micro, almost every engagement seems like Violet had the army advantage and the correct unit counters but Terran just wont die with proper micro.
Very good games both vs MKP and Sound. He says that ZvT is his worst matchup, and yet he takes out top-of-the-korean-ladder MKP, and goes in a very close 2-3 with better-than-bomber Sound. Impressive. Well played, and good luck in the 3rd price match!
Also sign me up if I'm not already, and I love your stream! And I'm very curious what team you will pick!
Good try ViOlet! at least you won some money and i think you carried yourself really well in the tournament. Heres hoping for more chances to prove yourself.
he has managed to qualify for IEM Sao Paulo. today he has won the xmg cup by beating some good players. congratulations sir! edit: xmg cup without any maploss btw so imba!
I hear there is some big news regarding viOLet coming soon.. hmmm.. (and no, its not about which team he is chooses.. although that may come soon also!)
make sure you guys support viOLet in his weekly Rundown tournaments. Unlike the playhem events.. the Rundown is reserved for top skilled players only .. with the idea of being more then just about competition. The Rundown is about helping others, like viOLet, make a name for themselves. We appreciate viOLet contining to compete in the Rundown. It helps that he is the 4 Time Champion!!
Just wanted to show support for viOLet as he seemed a bit frustrated before he had to turn his stream off because of lag while playing Playhem today.
You're such a great Zerg player and I love watching you make decisions that I'd never even consider and win with them in amazing fashion. So yeah, thanks for the stream if you ever see this viOLet, you're awesome!
Pre-IEM Sao Paulo interview! Makes me look forward to spring/summer again, it's way too cold over here. =) Ah well, really looking forward to the tournament, should be a good one.

Just popping in to say that although I'm not really a massive fan (play Terran and all) I saw the IEM vid and it's fantastic you've put in such a great effort to learn english, don't know many other koreans that could do that!
I'm sure you'll get out of your group so best of luck in the tourney, but please lose if you come up against DeMusliM! :p

Terminus , Violet @ 9, Demu @ 12. Demuslim opens with reactorless helion expand opting for more marines off 3 rax (2 reactors, 1 techlab). Violet does timing attack of 2 bases using roaches, ling and banes. Violet wins.

That interview was so sweet =) viOlet so humble. I love how supportive the crowd is - he really derserves it, and you can tell how geniune happy he feels. I really hope that gives him the confidence to take down SuperNova =)
Gogo viOLet!!!
Edit: Cant believe it took me this long to say this, but Sign me up please!
Wow.. was really pulling for ret for demuslim is right.. violet was the best player there! congrats! have a soft spot for all zergs and violet continues to impress.
btw, is violet walking proof that its possible to not train/live in korea after being a code S level player and still succeed? Obviously this is a rare case but it looks like violet is a very special player.
Sign me up ! Knew him back since his 7up aliases was made in the training camp Dunno why I didn't find his stream earlier Great player, deserving win in IEM to
gRTZ MAN!!! It was awesome today!!! And tks for the Picture too! I ll upload here later!! you were really carismatic at São Paulo and won the crowd! IT WAS INSANE!!
i thought violet was gonna wear a csn pin to every tournament : / i don't know if i missed it or what but in all the footage of him i saw in Brasil all i saw was a empire t-shirt.
Hello, here is one fan who attended the IEM Brazil Sao Paulo. We played very well the viOlet, and earned my respect, and the simplicity of the game! I'll be rooting for the violet from now on!
Just watched the LO3 interview with him. Does anybody know his Twitter? the one on the frontpage doesnt seem to be accurate anymore. Wanna tell him how awesome he is :D

Unlike the SC:BW community, a lot of the wc3 competitive scene was played internationally. The Koreans who played in a lot of international wc3 leagues/tournies had to be able to use at least some English to communicate with admins/other players and Violet was one of the most active Koreans in the international scene. Even though he started speaking in English recently, I found that even 1-2 yrs ago that his typing/writing in English to be very good so it's not too surprising to see him speak well now.
The CSN interviews with Violet during the MLG event are really good, one thing I really liked is how he stopped Rachael at the end to thank his sponsors. Really cool guy, I like Violet a lot
Hey viOlet, your awesome! Don't let stupid airport workers stop you from going to foreign events, it is always so fun to watch you play and I am always rooting for you!
Story from IPL3: I lost 0-2 to FXOLucky and Violet was watching the games. Later on, Violet got matched up versus Lucky, so he went up to me and my team and told me that he would "avengence me". So to sum it up, he's just a really awesome guy with a great personality and awesome english. Sign me up.
Fenrir is such a bad ID - most Americans can neither pronounce it nor do they know what/who Fenrir actually is... aktually knowledge about any northern Europe mythology comes from "Thor" and "Avengers" maybe Sweds and some Germans give him credit for it lol
gratz to violet! I'm not really considering myself a true fan of him, but I like this guy a lot. Great personality, great guy, and sometimes just grows ahead of himself and does things noone expected. Huge win! GG!
The first time I noticed Violet was during his Playhem recurring raids and when I heard something about his personal history I grew to like him a lot... but I wasn't still sure if he was a shooting star or something bigger. Then, the day he won IEM I realised that I had underestimated his skills: Violet's the real deal, he's a guy who wants to be big and wasn't afraid to leave Korea to achieve results. This tournament is not a truning point, it's just another proof: this tournament first place won't be the last for this + Show Spoiler +

Violet is so awesome, I tweeted him congratulations after the MLG win and he responded to say thank you! What a lovely guy! :D Next stop Red Bull Battlegrounds! Violet Fighting! <3
Tonight on Live On Three will be special guests MLG Spring Arena 2 Champion Violet, and the very special Day9 to talk about this weekend's Red Bull event in Austin. Plus full recaps of MLG Spring Arena 2, GSL Finals, SC2 ProLeague, OGN LoL, Street Fighter 25th Anniversary and more!
The first time I buy a GSL subscription and I get to see viOlet play in code S :D Bout time, he has been on a tear lately. Said that I haven't seen him streaming as much lately, in his CSN days he was streaming like all day. I guess he is too busy winning to stream, though.

When you win you get analyzed alot by other players. That could be the reason.
True true, the more videos out there of you playing, the more your opponents have to look at. And in a league like GSL, you know that your opponent is going to be spending plenty of time going over your past strategies.
Anyone know where in Korea viOlet is going to be staying for this season?
Sign me up, love Violet's back story, seems like a really courageous and nice guy, plus it's always fun watching his matches! Hope he can crush Anaheim this weekend!
I absolutely adore his ZvZ style with the Ultralisk endgame! It is so STRONG, sign me up for awesome! And id love to cast some of his replays if you can acquire them!!! :DD
Violet seems to have changed his twitter from @empire_violet to @sc2violet. Does anyone know whether this means he left empire? These kind of name changes usually signifies something like that, but it seems like he almost just joined.
In any case you should probably update the twitter in the OP to his new one when you get time.
Violet will play today's OSL Preliminaries. Opponents in his group will be players like HerO, Tassadar, Vines, Byun, TAiLS, YoDa, Ares and Ryung. Let's hope we will see him in the next OSL season!

Nothing big, contract just expired. Keep up with this thread for any exclusives.
Leaving for the US right now -- he's at Incheon airport. Interview with him (text) will be released shortly after his return (a week give or take a few days).
A life changing sponsorship sounds pretty cool. I wonder who is sponsoring him? Good luck at Summer Arena. Easily one of the favorites to take it all. Does anyone know violet's plans for GSL next season? He's guaranteed to at least be Code A for next season at this point but he said in his interview that he will still be living in the US. I'm assuming it'll probably be something like he will stay in the GSL if he makes it to code S but probably give up his spot if he doesnt since Code A money isn't very good, but I guess we'll have to wait and find out after his match with MMA or the up and down matches if he loses to MMA
I just can't believe I'm not signed up yet. I'm the biggest fanboy of viOlet. He seems so chill and humble and he's such an amazing player,. Please sign me up :-) I hope he can make it to the finals at IEM!
Hi guys, quick update is he extends a huge thank you to you guys for cheering him on and he's grateful for all of you. I've been swamped with college-related stuff but I'll revamp the OP with updates when I can.
Be sure to send him cool messages @AZUBUviOLet on Twitter.
Guys. I just found out that I live next to Violet. We're in the same apartment complex. I'm even invited to go over and play games verse him sometime. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

austin so cute <3 but yeah we just met viOlet :o
Lol yep. I didn't actually scream but it was pretty exciting.
Violets stream is just beyond awesome. The best stream I've seen for 2½ years. The guy is so chill and interactive, even funny, and yet still plays any strategy like a champion. Im loving it. He has become my 2nd favourite player(after Polt) in only a few days.
Im rooting for him in tournaments from now on, even though zerg is my least favourite race(The funny part is, he thinks the same:D)! ^^
Sign me up, I was watching this guy's stream way back when during the time he was in CSN training camp before one of the earlier MLGs, and am glad to see him putting down all these top finishes lately. viOlet HWAITING!!
viOLet, I always liked your personality, but today you absolutely proved to me that you are a worldclass player as well. The endurance and determination you showed in the grand final against Leenock as well as the disappointment in your eyes made it clear that you give it your all.
You won me as a fan today! Thank you for an awesome event!
I've been a fan of viOLet for a while but I don't like signing in to TL (lazy) so I did it today to show my support for one of the greatest progamers out there. I was really really really hoping he'd win against Leenock and I was super nervous throughout the entire Finals. We love you viOLet!
I kinda feel bad for Violet. He is never going to get the recognition that he truly deserves because he was born in Korea and people just love to bunch them all into one group. I mean he plays under the same conditions as every other foreign players but hes Korean so the community will never be all over him.

Hrm...I dunno about that. In my mind Violet fights for the foreign community. His twitter is all about hamburgers, Texas, etc. Violet is awesome.

that's bad for PR, how is he suppose to get girl fans that way?! well...unless he doesn't want girl fans.
Personally, I'd never call a pro/ANYONE that I don't know personally, "darling" or something like that. My guess is that he either has a girlfriend or it makes him uncomfortable.
sign me up. Now I want to be an official fan of him. I allways liked him, but not considered myself a real fan. But with his great play, showing what Zerg could do in HotS, he finally conquered me :D
He beat Sting 2-1, the toughest opponent of the group. 5-0 sweep is possible for viOLet!
Gogogogo!
E: FFS, how did I not realize that the post above is mine too. .___. E2: Booyah 3-0! Going for first in the group! E3: How am I not signed up? I've loved viOLet ever since I got into Starcraft! Sign me up, please.
viOLet will be playing at Dreamhack Summer in a couple of weeks! All those Visa issues cost him his DH Stockholm and WCS NA spots, so now it's his time to crush some nerds.
Violet I was lisening your interviw in the DH, you look very happy with people and food I must tell you than Valence DH holds many good surprises for you. I hope see you in Spain

Nah, he left Azubu after his contract expired and is now looking for a new team (afaik).
Anyone else have any recent news of whats going on with Violet? I know he forfeited pretty much every match he's had in the last few months. Is there any information on why? I miss watching him play. He seemed to have disappeared so quickly.

His Facebook and Twitter haven't been updated in a while too. I just hope it's a temporary break he took to refresh from the scene and comeback soon, cause viOLet was such a great player. If not a break, either it is full-blown retirement which he hasn't announced yet, military service, university and education or personal commitments.
