I'm hoping polt can get out of the brutal open bracket of IPL4 and meet up with stephano again

Polt's in group stages with MC/Puma. He won the IPL Qualifier.

I am sad that the finals didn't work out for Polt but overall he had a pretty nice tournament and should feel confident moving forward.

POLT'S CODE S GROUP IS OUT.

He has Fin, Oz, and his first match is against Parting. All in all, this is a damn good group. For one, he doesn't have to worry about Zergs after they probably watched him all weekend against Stephano, and he has two TvP's and then Fin who loves bio. The first time they faced, Polt was bad, yes, and Fin was able to use specific strats to beat him. Since then, Polt faced him in the FXO Invitational and took him out.

Polt can surely advance from this group.

Squirtle tried Parting's quick third into seven/eight gate timing against Polt in the IPL Tournament of Champions and Polt crushed it.

very impressive games by polt. the score was not indicative of how competitive and close the games were.

Polt vs Stephano is the best rivalry in sc2.
their games always been better than any GSL code S final.

Sad to hear that Polt lost yesterday. Unfortunately, I couldn't see the games but it sounds like he still played well. As far as I'm concerned finishing second behind Stephano is still a great result.
On a more positive note his code S group is looking good. One of the harder ones in my opinion but Polt can definitely make it out. The matches against PartinG and Oz could go either way but I would favour Polt slightly in both of them. The rematch against fOrGG will be really interesting. I don't think fOrGG will go for the same specific pre-planned type of builds again and Polt will probably not 1 Rax FE into 3-0-0 every game so I think it will look a lot different this time. In who's favour I'm not sure.

I'm kinda interested in Parting's reasoning for choosing Polt. Is it because he feels Polt is an easy player to beat, or because he wants a strong TvP/TvT player to eliminate the competition (even with random picks, the chance of getting zerg in a group is very low)? Or was it because nobody else wanted to pick Polt out of the Tier 4 group?

I think only the finalists (DRG and Genius) were able to pick a player

Oh right. So it's just luck then.

Stephano defeats Polt in close finals at Lone Star.

Stephano adapted to Polt and it's time for Polt to adapt to Stephano's ability to change his style solely for him. No one really gave Polt a single problem all weekend except Stephano, but they played an amazing seven games that could have gone either way.

Hopefully they meet again soon in another final for the tiebreak.

You are forgetting how close Violet was to beating Polt and knocking Polt into the Loser's Bracket. The crowd could not believe how Polt won that match (game 2) from that position.

Polt with a great tournament though. Excellent player.

It's luck that he happened to end up in Group H instead of say, Group B.

Polt in Group H means that he will be able to go to MLG, right?
He has a good chance in the group, should be very interesting! I'm so excited for a Polt vs ForGG rematch, I hope he crushes him. Both of the Protosses are no slouches, but I'm happy that we'll see Polt's TvP in action again.

Edit: Oops, obviously it does, the OP already states it, sorry. :D

Polt was put in at random, only finalist gets to pick their opponents in their Ro32 group

For some reason I forgot Violet. Yeah, Violet's an amazing ZvT'er. No shame having trouble against a guy who beat MarineKing and SuperNova in major offline tournaments.

One of Polt's strengths is his never surrender attitude. Both him and Stephano really fought to the death in virtually every match in the Finals of Lone Star Clash. No premature GG's. Many players would have GG'd against Violet, but Polt kept fighting and snatched a win right at the end! Polt was like the Terminator Terran, he just would never die! You think he has been stopped but he gets back up again! Tenaciousness is an asset.

Violet is also very underrated by many. I like him a lot.
