I think it is fair to say the top Sc2 SuperGM's can beat each other on any given day (depending on maps, meta game and just tiredness/alertness with all the flying they do) however Stepheno is now showing a very high level of consistency and deserves reaching the top spot. I am a fan of his play style and temperament but this last weekend was more than I could have expected. Violet, Ganzi, Parting and Squirtle all beaten and a very narrow loss to MC who is back to his best...just wow.

It shows the other game, violet VS Squirtle. Stephano VS Parting was played on the other stream, for which there are no twitch.tv VODS. Or am I missing something here?

He showed it yesterday in the interviews and also on his stream when he knows which exact build his opponent is going for after going for a certain gas timing. You don't learn that from playing three hours a day and not reading starcraft related stuff... You get that from playing high caliber opponents and having a great memory and understanding of the game. I'm pretty sure Stephano is simply a lot smarter than basically every one else is, which is why he has done more to advance the zerg metagame than any other player in recent memory and can beat the top players in the world without practicing against the best players in the world. Unless you believe Stephano is training in secret and lying about not practicing when he's traveling, etc. (which no one who knows him well (e.g., mana or bling) has disputed), you have to just accept that he's a rare talent. His results and the hype surrounding him before he broke out on the scene (e.g., when he was still in high school) is consistent with the "rare talent/genius" hypothesis about his success -- EU pros were all over his nuts well before he started playing LANs.

He's carved out his name in SC2 history, and I think we will always be comparing the foreigners future to the Stephano of today.

Can't remember the last time he did poorly - he always seems to either win or place very high, even in major tournaments. When he goes out he never falls on his face and is out, he puts up an incredible fight every time. Even his defeat to Polt at Assembly was far closer than the score would have one believe, and his series against MC at the RBL was no exception. I think you'd make a good argument for Stephano being one of the top 5 most consistent players in the world if not quite one of the top 5 overall. He's carved out his name in SC2 history, and I think we will always be comparing the foreigners future to the Stephano of today. I dont think its fair to compare other foreigners to Stephano. Stephano are unique one in a billion and I dont think we will ever see another foreigner explode into the scene by winning a major tournament and then just getting better and better without a team house or coaches and has now turned into one of the very best zergs in the world. Those standards are hard to live upto for other foreigners.

Those standards are hard to live upto for other foreigners. It is precisely because the bar Stephano has set is so high that we will use it measure other foreigners. Besides, even if it was unfair to compare other foreigners to Stephano (and it might be), do you really think we'd be able to help ourselves? We'll always be saying of player X, "Yeah he's pretty good but he's not like a Stephano or anything."

Good point, I just think it gonna be impossible for the new talent in the foriegn scene to live upto even a fraction of Stephano´s road to succes.

I am assuming that all the missing games (ie Day 2 casted by Day[9]) will be uploaded onto Day9.tv. Already they have some of Day 1 matches there.
