His games today just showed huge signs that he is tired of SC2 and doesn't want to play any longer. He's been losing like this in tournaments for as long as I can remember, to be honest. He rarely loses narrowly in long macro games; he either wins or does something like this. When he was knocked out of WCS EU in previous seasons it looked even worse at times, and after that he went on to place second at IEM, etc. Maybe he's tired, maybe he isn't, but the games today weren't an indication of anything. He's done similar things in the past. With that said though, seeing him lose today was still kind of heartbreaking. It always feels weird to second guess pro players, but I have a hard time understanding why he is so adamant about playing cheesy, aggressive games (especially against players who have defended early aggression in earlier games) when he can play such beautiful macro games. Really hope to see him bounce back, of course. Keep fighting, Nani. ![]()

Throwing is the act of intentionally losing, not practising is the act of not maintaining your skill. Naniwa may very well have done his best and it wasn't enough because his skills aren't where they need to be right now, that's not the same thing as intentionally losing for whatever reason.

Keep fighting, Nani. ![]() Although what you say might be true, but through all the years as a naniwa fan I saw a slight change in yesterdays games that is even more hearthbreaking than what you describe. When Naniwa in the past lost to people who, normally, are worse than him, naniwa's disappointment has been reflected in "bad mannerism", no GG's or even uneseccary hate towards the other player. Yesterday all we saw was "GG". Too me it felt like either naniwa has lost his spark, or someone else was playing! I hate to say it. One might argue that it is WCS rulings that keeps him like that. But I don't know. The naniwa I know wudn't care if he had the passion he's always had. Ofc it's mere speculation, but I really felt for nani yesterday! Keep fighting bro! Will always be cheering for you, even tho I miss most matches due to work! Really looking forward to see you at IEM when the time comes Nani! It'll be my Beacon of Light in march.

Hahaha, the first time I've seen someone bothered by a lack of BM. ![]() Seriously though, I get what you're saying, but I wouldn't read too much into it. It's always hard for fans to interpret what a player is doing and what mental state they're in. With the new WCS rules in place maybe he just wanted to stay safe, I don't know. In addition to his WCS 2013 curse, Naniwa had a pretty serious slump back in late summer of 2012 when he was playing a lot worse than he was yesterday, didn't have a team, lost to lower tier EU terrans, etc. If he managed to come back from that, he can come back from this, too. I don't presume to know what he's feeling or what his thoughts on his career are right now - maybe he really is tired and wants to retire - but what we saw yesterday was not enough to say anything either way. A lack of BM is not necessarily an indicator of lost passion.

"hi guys ! sorry for the late update. ill write here and in my blog a bit more thoroughly ^ Lately ive been really depressed about things that i rather not share in public but i am working on fixing them which lead me to have quite bad practice results lately and that shakes my confidence obviously . that plus all the drama at the same time and some other bad news regarding my team is making me really sad at the moment. But never the less i will come back stronger eventually so i guess all i ask is that you remember that im human too ^ As of right now in terms of my own plans there's korea plans and there's living on my own in sweden plans aswell both of which i find nice because i really feel i need a change in my life right now so that i can continue gaming alot of people really think its easy to be a foreigner pro and i guess this bothers me a litlte bit, sure if you dont care about results and you only want to stream then its a piece of cake but if you really want to win and try to better your game all the time it can be super frustrating when you have subpar practice possibilitys compared to the korean players who you have to play in tournaments. basically i guess all im saying is that i feel alot of pressure and stress etc etc. but oh well ill find a way to cope ! Sorry for saying so many different things in this post but my head is a mess right now , I do however want you guys to know that i check this thread quite regularly and i do appriciate your support " This explains a lot. I hope you'll recover soon Nani! Best of luck!
