1.Great for him, he gets paid better, which is good obviously. 2.Bad for his career: regardless of where he will live he is still on EG now, and that means he will have short rise after joining (on the enthusiasm of changing enviroment) perhpas winning one or two big tournaments, and then fall off to never resurafce again. I dont know but i get the feel thats what EG does to players, no team spirit (look at their team results), perhaps they pay their playerws so much they become content and dont have drive to win anymore. Anyway thats the impression i have on EG (not only sc2 eg mind You).
Still i wish him the best, and kind wonder what will happen in eg masters cup, how he will feel when mouz will win the cup while he is on eg, not even competing in the finals.
EG may not have much team spirit, but Thorzain is so well liked in the Slayers house he should have no problems, believe me, this is a great move for his career.

Does this mean we'll see Thorzain cast EGMCSL or is he just going to stay in Europe --> Anaheim --> Korea?

This "EG has no team spirit" thing has really got to stop lol.
We live together. We literally do everything together. I've been friends with IdrA/Machine/LzGamer for 5-8 years. The rest of us are great friends too..
We don't do well in team leagues because Puma/JYP/Huk and IdrA (when he is in korea) have to play cross server. This means bad time zones, latency and in some cases refusal to play because of those conditions creating bad PR for them when they lose unfairly.
Individually EG is one of the top teams with accomplishments. We train hard, love each other and do better than any other team on the planet in terms of marketing/innovating our brand beyond just playing a game.
Thorzain is going to fit right in as he is already friends with a few of us and his level of professionalism/likability means he will have no problem transitioning.
It'd be nice if a lot of you stopped trying to speculate on odd ways to find this a bad thing. He is cool with it -- so should you.

it's a bit harsh to say all those losses they have suffered in team leagues are unfair when you have the choice of picking NA based players who don't have the lag and time zone problems... Doesn't say much for them if they're not getting a game over players that are performing well below their best due to poor latency and time zones.
ThorZaIN will come to the rescue though, that is for sure

EG's failure in team leagues is gonna come to a quick stop when Thorzain gets involved. EG are gonna win their own masters cup! And I don't know where the idea that EG has bad team spirit, they're the only foriegner team with their own house, they all live together, and are mostly old friends from BW. They have great team spirit, they just suck at clan wars (relative to their talent), but as I said, Thorzain is gonna solve that problem quickly!

It blows my mind that people overlook this. The team chemistry is so incredibly clear that you would have to have blinders or hater goggles to claim otherwise. Doing the minimal like watching kingston commercials during tournaments, or watching an EG player interview once every 6 months should be sufficient evidence that EG is one tightly knitted team.
Now to be fair, I wouldn't expect JYP and Lz to be the best of friends because that is unrealistic. They live in different parts of the world and there is a language barrier. But JYP and Incontrol have already shown great respect for one another from just attending one event together (hsc4). For example, in a player interview, JYP lists Incontrol as his favorite teammate.
In addition to the obvious friendship between the guys at the lair, PuMa and JYP also have a long and withstanding friendship. This dates back to their TSL days. Even after PuMa joined EG, he regularly named JYP as one of his regular training partners.
Do we even have to talk about Huk and IdrA? They regularly joke about cuddling lol.

OT: I don't like the move either but as long as Thorzain is happy, all his fans (including me) should be happy! If you don't like EG, cheer for the guy, not the team.

Yeah the team spirit between the American based EG players is incredibly obvious to see

Look at Thorzain in his black hood. He's clearly fallen to the dark side.
Darth Thorzain he will be until he leaves EG.

Can't speak for any other fans than myself, but I think this is awesome news. The team chemistry in my eyes seem like a perfect match with Thorzains persona. As far as I know Idra has respect for Thorzain (said in a interview), machine is the friendliest guy on the planet, Demuslim is a true sir and a former WC3-player and you (iNcontroL) and T-zain have hit it off great. (This is just my impression of the players I know on the EG-team) Best of luck to you guys, and you have definately made me an EG fan.
(btw your play is looking better and better so grats on nice play)

Thats precisly what do i mean, perhaps "no team spirit" was a bad wording. But that fragment of Your post is in my opinion essence of the problem. We didnt lose because opponent played better, we lost cause of lag, latency, late hour or whatever. "Unfair lose", You said it Yourself. Well guess what, other teams also play cross-sever, also have sheduling problems, also experience latency problems and sometimes play in the middle of the night. But most of time they dont throw these inconvinieces as the reason of their loss. I just hope Thorzain wont accept this way of thinkng as his own, cause frankly excuses are not the way of champion.
PS. Also being friend with someone doesnt necessarly translete into good cooperation. I play LoL with my friends, and despite the fact that we are very good friends in real our team spirit is really terrible. PS. Again best wishes to Thorzain, but i get the feel EG will "posion" him

I'm actually much more excited at him staying at the Slayer's house indefinitely. I'm sure it'll be a great experience for both him and the Slayers team!

No one else in the world of progaming comes even close to EG in terms of team spirit. It's kinda funny that people can even make claims like this.

I just realized that since Slayers haven't done so well recently, Thorzain living there and practicing with them might be just as helpful to them as it is to Thorzain. MMA will have a much easier time stealing build orders from Thorzain as well, and Thorzain won't have to unfreeze MMA's blood before transfusions.
Good luck to both Slayers and you Thorzain!

Good luck in the Scan Invitational!
