Who is CatsPajamas?! The most epicly bearded caster in ESPORTS! Also known as Kevin Knocke, Cats, and the proud owner of two cats.
In his own words:
"I primarily played FPS/RPG games as a kid with a healthy dose of adventure games for flavor. While I screwed around in Brood War, it was more fun for a 10 year old kid to play turret defense than league matches. But, despite not playing much, I held a special place in my heart for it and was excited for the release of Starcraft 2. It wasn't much long after that my friend introduced me to Team Liquid and I started watching the best players in the world compete. So, despite being an RTS noob, I set out to play the game as intended, no more turret defense for me It was shortly thereafter that I started watching the major casters. Day[9] dailies, especially, took me from a gold level player to diamond in under 100 matches.
As I got further into the game, I started finding out about the wonderful world of esports casting. I was introduced to Ipp, Raelcun, TheGunrun, Tasteless, Artosis, Psy, HD, Husky, and others in a very short period of time. Given the fact that I had three years radio experience and was going to school for a masters in communication, I thought it appropriate to give casting a try. Thus, I established a stream here and began my adventure." (1)
Before Cats was hired by IGN to cast the IPL, he worked hard to build his reputation as a caster by holding weekly Masters and Open KOTHs. His small stream following was quite close, and often able to observe the KOTH games. He held viewer replay night as well, and allowed his viewers the opportunity to co-cast a game of theirs with him.
The story of how he got hired by IGN in his own words:
"The story was this: At MLG Dallas 2011, the players could hear the commentary, so there was actually no live casting for the crowd because they had to shut it down. During Kiwikaki vs Idra, I ended up sitting next to David Ting, General Manager of the eSports division of IGN. It started with him asking me questions about the match, but it ended up that I starting casting/giving insight the entire match. Apparently he was impressed, and a few days later he asked me to work on some IPL projects."
In my opinion fan clubs should be kept to more well known members of the community and top players.
I've never heard of this guy and I can guarantee most other people on teamliquid haven't either. No offense but at this rate everyone will have their own fan club..... This is ridiculous.
Who is this guy? What major accomplishments does he have? And why does he have a fanclub that's basically just cluttering up the forums?
I mean, I respect anyone willing to dedicate themselves to casting, but until he has something significant to show for it I personally don't think this should exist.
Edit: I made this a very long time ago before cats was casting for IGN or anyone really, and it got closed cause no one knew who he was. That's why this is one page long.
I can't express enough joy that CatsPajamas has a fan page! His casting makes me forget that I'm trying to steal builds from the pros he's casting sometimes. :o
haha, i love the bottom pic of the op, back from the midwest championship, where cats casted with doa for the first time (i think.) I got to meet them both, and it was from this event that i became a huge fan of both! They are both as awesome in rl as they are online
Amazing guy, great casting, and can't find an appropriately positive adjective for his voice. Love him! With all that said, I feel the need to say how unfitting his ID is. Wish casters started to use their real names instead of 'silly' IDs.
I disliked the artificial 'batman' testosterone voice on the first day while pumping the croud, but it seemed like later in the tourney he calmed it down and he REALLY started to impress me. He always works well with doa, but he merged with dapollo seamlessly as well. Very articulate, passionate, overall excellent IMO
Probably the best example next to Husky for how to improve your casting by a huge amount in a reasonable amount of time. Those 2 "casters" who pretty much had the main stage ALL WEEKEND and molested us with their voice should take notes here.
Wonderful work at IPL4, incredible job in every department - from casting to analyzing to announcing players and wins to conducting interviews. If I was not enough of fan before, I certainly am now.
to me it looks like Cats told the truth because he was answering the 5-1 that the guy wrote before editing his post.
Looks like the reddit community tries to cut off another guys career with their pitchforks. This community wants to see drama and if there's no drama they will just make it up out of nowhere -.-

sorry to hate on your hate, but keep in mind that for the gstl finals, he wasn't in the role of a caster but in the role of a host/announcer. such a voice used is for said announcing, and Mr. Pajamas rocked it really well. really created a good Michael Buffer-esque vibe.

There is a * after the name if the post has been edited. CP maybe just made a mistake, but it looks like he's trying to cover it up because he said "you can quote me on this"
IPL3 i could barely stand this guy, since then he's improved alot (I'm fairly picky on broadcasters, theres alot i wont watch)
Nowadays i really enjoy his casting, he hypes stuff well, he's calling almost every little thing correctly and he gets along well with doa (He also dropped my least-favourite caster moniker ever)
I think he did the right choice, honestly if I would have been in this situation I would have lied just to shut down the huge spoiler, it's what makes the showmatch interesting inst it ? I'm not fan of CP but I 100% agree with his decision of not spoiling the results.
As most of you have probably figured out, I posted what I did in the Reddit thread to a guy who said "Spoiler: Stephano wins 5-1." I said that it was absolutely wrong and he could quote me after the match. Well, then he edited his post to say that MC wins 5-3 and immediately screen capped it to create drama. :p Trolls will be trolls.
Love you all! Big things coming up for IPL soon, stay tuned!
CATS!!!!!! i luv u man, i miss the ole days of the litterbox and the cats king of the hills. SC2 is a lesser community without your contribution to the semi pro league.
CatsPajamas commentating with Apollo in DreamHack EIZO Open: Valencia has been awesome. Good to have commentators who talk fast without umming and erring. Compared to the likes of say Rotterdam, Tasteless, Crota, HD, and MrBitter - these two are a LEAGUE above. The fact he's a college graduate and that english is his native language shines through. As much as I like Rotterdam and Khaldor for example - it is obvious english is not there native language. There vocabulary and the speed they talk suffers and its quite apparent.
i love that this recently got bumped ^^ Kevin did an awesome job with Eizo, and i love his casting on IPL. as someone said, he talks quickly but efficiently and hardly ever gets hung up with umm's or err's. also a really lovable personality, and he's lost somewhere around 100 lbs!
