Ok, a little backstory: I'm new to RTS games. I primarily played FPS/RPG games as a kid with a healthy dose of adventure games for flavor. While I screwed around in Brood War, it was more fun for a 10 year old kid to play turret defense than league matches. But, despite not playing much, I held a special place in my heart for it and was excited for the release of Starcraft 2. It wasn't much long after that my friend introduced me to Team Liquid and I started watching the best players in the world compete. So, despite being an RTS noob, I set out to play the game as intended, no more turret defense for me It was shortly thereafter that I started watching the major casters. Day[9] dailies, especially, took me from a gold level player to diamond in under 100 matches.
As I got further into the game, I started finding out about the wonderful world of esports casting. I was introduced to Ipp, Raelcun, TheGunrun, Tasteless, Artosis, Psy, HD, Husky, and others in a very short period of time. Given the fact that I had three years radio experience and was going to school for a masters in communication, I thought it appropriate to give casting a try. Thus, I established a stream here and began my adventure.
Now, I know I'm not exactly the most popular caster around, but I have begun to assemble a group of dedicated followers (big shout out to Reched, Shift, Blow, Jubbs, Vexxin, VADER, beefynoodly, guch, and the rest of the normal viewers) and have been approached to do some pretty big tournaments. So, shortly after beginning my youtube adventure, I have gotten over 100 subscribers. I therefore present my brief video as a thanks to not only those that have subscribed but also to the amazing amazing caster that work their ass off day in and day out to bring fantastic Starcraft 2 content to you all. I can't thank them enough.
So above all, support the Starcraft streamers and give them your thanks!
That was a great vid, I'll have to check your casts out <3
edit - watched a few of your videos, and your style is very different compared to most of the other sc2 casters. You do a more professional play by play at a time when the trend is a very analytical and more abstract style of casting. Its really kind of cool because I can totally listen to you without even watching the game and get a good feel for what is going on, much like traditional sports casting.
I would love to listen to some pure audio casts if you could record them at a higher audio quality then your video casts have.
Sadly I was subscriber 106 last night I'll continue looking forward to more of your casts I've watched them for awhile but rarely join chat :S. Great job Cats!
To goldenwitch, thanks, that's exactly the style I'm going after. I feel that right now the casters that are out there are very knowledgeable Starcraft players, but that most aren't approaching the craft from a professional broadcasters point of view. That's my angle. I may be able to record at a higher rate for a pure audio cast. I've not done that yet, but I can certainly try!
A great video tribute that kept me smiling! I look forward to seeing more CatsPajamas. A great voice combined with a play-by-play style of commentating brings something new to SC2 casting. I think if SC2 would show up on ESPN someday, Cats' style would be the standard, especially if teamed up with an analyst like Day9.
Approached that video quite skeptical but it was actually pretty good. I think you have a good casting voice, will have to check out some full casts though.
Densha, thanks, I do think that the exciting play-by-play style has a spot. It would be interesting to team with a color commentator to see what sort of dynamic we would find.
Purpose2, appreciate you giving it a shot! Look forward to seeing you when I cast.
Trancey_, the name comes from my Xbox days. My friend and I assembled a ton of 48 hour accounts and used those up in a short period of time to power level some accounts in Halo (I know, I know...). We started picking ridiculous names. One of the first I chose was ShadowTiger, simply because we played a guy with that name, and I thought to myself, "Who seriously sits down and then gets excited because of the name ShadowTiger? Clearly they think this is the most intense name ever, and I'm stealing it." Well, after a couple of accounts, we ended up going after 30's catchphrases. I became the CatsPajamas, and he the BeesKnees. And it stuck.
Catspajamas is the shit! :D. I really like that he trys to make everyone feel like they are apart of whatever he is doing. Mainly when he is doing his KOTH's! FOR HONOR GUTS AND GLORY!
