yeah I think marineking if he doesn't tilt can pretty much win this osl, he's the best tvt and tvp in the world still, and hopefully he can miss DRG ;D

I think just Naniwa and Leenock. Leenock is also the only player to win it from the Loser's bracket IIRC

Leenock was in absolute god mode at Providence, that's why it was so surprising when Jjakji upset him in the GSL finals.

It's going to be really tough for MKP unless he shows his best form yet.

Naniwa did it when MLG was 100% foreigners, so It's not really as impressive, he also got first in his pool after getting into pool play from the open bracket instead of going through the lower bracket.

~~If MKP gets into pools and manages to get first in his pool he has a good chance, #1 from pool play has an insane advantage at MLG.~~ just realized there is no pool play at this MLG, they are using a whole new system I guess.

They are doing like brackets instead of pools right? so if he gets a manageable path he has a good shot, but I agree winning from the open bracket takes a god mode performance like Leenock and would be extraordinary if it happened again any time soon

Yeah they are doing these weird 8 man invitational double elimination style group phases with 4 Summer Arena seeds, two players from the open bracket and two kespa seeds in each group. Winning that mini tournament gets you into the winners bracket for the championship bracket while everyone else who didn't win a group goes through the lower championship bracket.

It's not that different, you win a " group stage " and you get into the winners championship bracket. Everyone else is seeded towards the back of the championship losers depending on how they did in the " group stage "

Open bracket losers finals also leads into the very back of the championship bracket just like before.

I'm not sure why they changed the system away from pool play to this instead, seems kinda weird although not in a bad way.

Did they say that kespa players are the invited ones? It doesn't mention that on liquipedia so I was hoping they would seed him into the group play based on past results/being awesome etc.

Kespa seeds have not been announced yet, it should be any day now since MLG is fast approaching.

I'm only assuming it is kespa players because of the partnership between kespa and MLG, the showmatches at the last MLG seems to lead perfectly into this.

I don't think they will seed non kespa players because there would be a lot of complaints about favoritism and giving top players free spots.

It just doesn't make sense to me that they would reserve spots to invite players for this event when they have moved away from the invitation model for this year, every arena leads into each championship now. Inviting Kespa players seems like the only logical reason to have invites.

If Marineking was seeded his flight would be paid for and that person wouldn't be tweeting that they " secured the budget " to send him.

I would assume at least a few of the seeds would be Kespa players because if you remember, MLG and Kespa have a deal now like they used to with Gom

It feels like a year passed since I watched MKP at a tournament.... whats the closest one where I watch my love play? I hope it will be soon cos I miss the emo that guy make feel when I watch him play
