Meh... Yes and no. TB is pushing it a bit too far. Yeah, a Silver or Bronze player might still be excited for 10 minutes after the game is practically over but I doubt it. After watching several games, especially with the same caster, it is not hard to notice when excitement is genuine and when it isn't. But even if unexperienced viewers stay excited, does that mean that viewers with more knowledge of the game should just mute the stream for a while in order not to get bored to death? There needs to be more balance. Considering that for now the casters are the ones who have to fill-in the time between games and provide the post-game analysis as well, if they start with the analysis way to early it is likely that they would run out of things to say - especially with the ammount of games that are being broadcasted every day. But when there is nothing else to be said, sometimes it might be a good idea to actually stop talking as much. This may sound like blasphemy but again, it happens all the time in sports broadcasting - the commentators would often slow down, make pauses, only acknowledging the occasional good pass (micro) and so on. However, for now it seems that SC casters feel obliged to talk all the time, which hurts the quality of the cast in my opinion.

So right when Idra and Incontrol started casting their first match of the night (game 3 I believe) they started talking about breakfast foods and it sounded like a very organic conversation but towards the end Incontrol said "nothing beats a good breakfast burrito" to which Idra replied something about not liking cheese...

It didn't hit me till waaaay later (I was thinking about it as I prepared my breakfast) and I'm still not sure if it was intended to be a joke or not--what do you guys think?

Yea, I think his opinion is very strange, especially since he uses sports commentating analogies all the time. If a soccer game is at 6-0 10 minutes before it's over, no commentator in the world would try to hide the fact that this game is totally over.

IdrA's commentary is awesome and makes NASL great. Especially loved the comment about Cruncher. Unban the guy, he's a baller.

I love it how in the new Pony Tails edition they have only picked retarded comments in support of Idra and balanced opinions against him, while ignoring all the retards bashing Idra and all the sensible arguments made in support of him. Sports journalism at its finest.

Comming up next: fighting errupts between rival supporters during an Idra vs <insert random cheesy scrub here> match at MLG: Columbus. :D I'm definitely going to adapt some football chants for the next LAN even I attend.

Idra isn't a good caster by any means, and he would certainly fail is he tried to cast alone. He's an analytical caster, but requires someone alongside him to add energy and makes things interesting. I felt the incontrol / idra combo worked really well yesterday, and preferred it more than gretorp / idra. Incontrol is good at improvising, adding energy to a cast, and in general making anything interesting or finding something to talk about during dead time. That's when Idra can do what he's really good at (offering amazing analysis on a game) without having to fulfill a role he's not that good at.

hes not a good caster, hes a godly commentator. given clear and precise insight in the thought process behind certain moves and descions that the caster doesnt give.

I doubt it, even with Idra by his side he'd still be clueless. Unlike djwheat and incontrol that knows what's going on. Totalbiscuit is probably an ok caster, just not a very good sc2 caster.

yeah really djwheat has no idea what the heck is going on, he's leagues better than he was, but i'd sadly rank him below hd and above husky, and that puts him in a weird spot because i'd rather watch husky.

i thought idra did a great job, and i enjoyed his opinions, but i'm in his fan club so thats probably expected hahaha.

"crunchers some fat kid I met in the elevator and had no idea who he was" haha, that was classic.

i enjoy his very very blunt analysis* of players, strategies, and races.

^ i agree with this guy. considering the BM from both parties(idrA and cruncher) complexity should have stayed out of it.




regarding TB's post:
one thing i notice last night about idrA casting is his ability to call players moves much better than other. so i would say yes, idrA is a great caster!

i think it is a little rude of TB to call idrA a bad caster tho.

Personally I think he's just plain wrong. I do not like his solo casting for the IPL or in fact any of his other stuff.
