The stargate cheese seemed like an autowin because of MANY precedents. First of all, scouting is EXPECTED of players of this caliber and especially Idra considering his background in BW. If Idra scouted that, Protoss would have just lost [however much a Stargate cost+100]minerals and Protoss was on ONE base with only 1GATE+CORE. Second, Did you not see the protoss's base? In order to go this cheese, he had 1 GATE with 1ZEALOT and 1SENTRY. If Idra scouted he could have just won with a push. In order for Protoss to gain this "Autowin" advantage he had to go defenseless and HOPE for the opponent to make a noob mistake--not scouting. In BW a lot of strategies don't give you "autowin" because of the other player's good defense due to scouting, etc. In BW things like hidden tech wouldn't win you the game because if the other player saw JUST a gate/core + the gate without warpgate, a good player would have been scouting franticly or setting up precautionary defenses[spores/spines]. I don't get it. Idra absolutely hates cheese, his fanclub could attest to this, so why doesn't he scout? The main reason why cheese was seen less in SC:BW games is because the progamers constantly scout the whole map, throughout the entire match. Idra lost game 1 and game 3 due to lack of scouting. Idra hates cheese; so why is scouting not emphasized or used to its potential to impede potential "cheeses"? Especially with shift commands, he can just shift command his zergling across the whole map. 3rd game, expansion right under his nose. Yes it is right under his nose but that shouldn't be an excuse. In BW games, no expansions go unnoticed, destroying/harassing the expansion is another case but none went "under anybody's nose". Idra fans, while the game is still new and improvement is definitely not being debated here, dont be so quick to blame Idra's loss on the "lame" state of the game because Idra just plain lost both of those games because he left out a crucial aspect of the game--scouting. Sack an OV, morph an Overseer, make a changeling...scout the god dam map, anything! If properly scouted, no way Lotze would have been able to maintain his army and Idra would have overran him and Lotze defense would not have been as strong[game3] and no way Idra would lose to 3 voidrays in game 1. Yes, this is a new game, Idra is still learning but...seriously? He is a BW progamer, scouting should have been etched into him after all those hours of training. Yes, humans do make mistakes and Yes, he did make a mistake--a huge freaking one, mind you and Yes, I did expect a lot of Idra--to lose in the round of 32 is just plain regretful for those who wanted to see him win. Was the game entertaining? I have to say games 1 and 2 were not but game 3 was...more frustrating then entertaining. A entertaining game to me would be two players making minimal mistakes trading the lead, which is good SC drama. To some this might be exactly what game 3 was to them but for me this game was just a game of waiting till when Idra will lose. No way Idra would win with the Protoss on the same amount of bases if Idra didn't harass--which he did not do with success. And the frustration of watching him lose to cheese cause he didn't scout in game1 and seeing him tumble down the drain AGAIN because of the same mistake overcame any tiny excitement I had when he pushed back to Protoss Nat. Best of luck to you Idra but...just shambles man; shambles.

I found myself on the edge of my seat chewing on the lid of my water bottle (bad habit that I do when I am nervous) and almost chanting different encouraging words through the internet to idra. So with that bias in mind that game was so hard to watch end, I felt all of that energy just dissipate in a split second. But I don't feel let down by you idra if you read this, you played great all tourney, great job and keep it up. This was probably the first SC2 game that I actually felt what I feel when watching football. Rocking forwards and backwards in my chair, divided between being "OMG we're going to win" and "OMG we'll lose". Sure, they both made mistakes but that's never a problem when you watch competitive sports. P.S. ccdnl, TLDR. Idra lost a game, happens to everyone.

Couple of months and a few patches and he'll be able to post the results he's been struggling (but still managing) to deliver since retail.

If you think he should of sacked an overlord every 30 seconds just to make sure nothing fishy was going on...? Overlords are not cheap. Early game, you saw what happens when you lose some. IdrA lost 3 OL in match 3, and maybe would have lost if Lotze pushed and fielded his ramp, preventing the hydra from getting there. The queen and som drones would have died, a massive blow.

I am not an Idra fan by all means, but somehow I got dragged into this ''us vs them'' mentality of foreigners vs korea, and I was really enjoying the game the same as any football match rooting for my team. I guess SC2 as an e-sport does have a future after all.

I know, I said that in my post; just generally upset by Idra's early knockout. edit: went to read some Idra quotes to cheer me up; On July 19 2010 19:13 ChickenLips wrote: i also think the games should be live casted (without a stream) and recorded and then streamed at a later date. We're going to be suffering like Job, but this is all to test our faith in IdrA. Hell, he might not even qualify in the next season. The sufferings will get more severe, like IdrA might get cancer or something, and people will try to discourage us. But the few who still remain loyal to his fanclub will only experience his divine comeback. You just gotta believe man...

The conclusion I came to from testing was that Mutas are the answer to terran Mech. And IdrA flamed me for it (as did many others). Turns out that a month or two later, this is a pretty mainstream opinion. Just goes to show that nobody's opinions are worth shit, even the pros'.
