i agree with this 100%, there is noone with a real lovetohate/love/hate whichever personality who is any good anymore and for this the scene just becomes stale. when idrA and Destiny left ive never felt excited for any sc2 match although i love watching it, i just dont seem to care if i miss a few games. Falling asleep to the last wcs finals i think says it all for me What about naniwa ? He used to get hated on pretty bad Naniwas not in the spotlight enough he gets some attention because of his winy and BM tweets but he simply is not in the community light enough, hes not on any shows or casts or promotes himself at all
Only that he is constantly in the spotlight from tournaments etc. and he was even on Artosis' show META a few days ago.

being on one episode of one show is not enough to be in the spotlight

Naniwa is one of the most spotlighted players because he's one of the best foreigners and because he's rude as fuck. Also being Swedish is a bonus. I dislike Naniwa but you can't deny he's a good player and that he's popular.

He's good, but I do kind of agree he could put himself out there more. He's obviously popular but he could make himself more if he tried more, but he doesn't care about that he just wants to win tournaments which he's done good enough to get really up there.

I think he is in the spotlight as we are all talking about him constantly, but ye sure I agree that he can market himself more.
Idra was the best at the game for 2 years, the only one in gsl, had a great history, was dominating AND was a staple on shows and streamed time to time and the proof in that is the unparalleled popularity and the almost 3000 pages in his fanclub just discussing him.
But also I have to say; maybe naniwa is being able to play so well because he doesn't invest himself all over, some can balance it some can not.

He's never dubbed as the "best foreigner" but at some point he was definitely TOP 3.

Greg "IdrA" Fields will be co-casting the entire event, providing his usual analysis and dry humour. The reception for his cast during the first SHOUTcraft America was extremely positive and gave us one of our best days in terms of viewership, so it seemed only reasonable to invite him back. I personally enjoyed co-casting with Greg for both his familiarity with the players which gave him a unique insight into the competition and his respect for caster role definitions which allowed him to deliver analysis while I handled the play-by-play. The combination was well received and I very much enjoyed the cast and am looking forward to doing so once again.
