I think i remember you saying you even hate the game? My question is, don't you think you're showing lackluster performance because you don't actually like the game? You're constantly facing opponents who actually enjoy playing, ofc they will have the upperhand against some1 who hates playing... i did used to think this, but i actually dont anymore after watching his games VS morrow
he may not like the game but he has said he loves competititon and i cant believe after watching those games he wasnt giving it his all and he was obviously affected after losing so i dont think hes in a position where its "i dont care if i win or lose" he obviously wants to win

A mutalisk for IdrA - The Cheerful of a lifetime
Fellow Grackheads. We all come to this sacred thread every day to bask in the glory that is Gregory "IdrA" Fields, be it fangirling cheering or cursing we are all united in our fandom. And never has our fandom been more important. Greg's recent loss to + Show Spoiler + hurt us all, but it was obvious that Greg was the one hurting the most, staring wordlessly in to the score screen.
Our overseer needs us, and lets not dissapoint him.
Thoughts/Ideas
- Firstly, similar cheerfuls have been done before. See here and here for previous examples.
- I'd also like us all to somehow present these letters to the Lair in a wooden box of sorts. Imagine opening a box and there's a ton of cheerful letters in it!
Happy IdrA week - Mail edition I think we should follow the general jist of these, and perhaps even plan a (as someone else in the thread suggested) "Happy IdrA week" where we make sure to send positive mails to the EG Lair in Arizona. What's even better is that EG host a bi-weekly show titled "Mail call" where they collect the best letters of the week and comment them in a youtube video. The recipiant of the letter/mail/picture/gift very often also gives a short reading/examination of the gift.
Happy IdrA week - Twitter edition We could also go about as the latest Jaedong project and send him positive messages through Twitter with the hashtag: #HappyIdrA, or #IdrAfighting.
Gift basket Like the great user Reivax (Sverige slåss!) suggested, we could all chip in for a nice gift basket. He was also handsome and smart enough to actually find a Gift basket service based in Arizona! http://www.gifttree.com <- Someone of us should go through some of their stuff and the suggest which items look the best and we vote for which one we should choose.
Important stuff
- Address to the EG lair: Evil Geniuses Lair
[Specific Individual, if desired] PO Box 71939 Phoenix, AZ 85050
- A joint paypal account must be created, and who are willing to chip in?
- Ok, everybody add Whole on Skype (Wholegrn) and he'll put you in to the group discussion where we plan all of this.
A work in progress Updated with Whole's skype address.

Yeah, he did even crappier against worse players than now, when everyone was much worse as well. It's not the first long slump he's been in, and it's probably not the last. Greg is not stupid, and it would be stupid to retire with HotS coming out so soon. I am willing to bet that he's not going to retire before half a year after Hots, or whatever it takes to make that seemingly retarded game playable at a competitive level. At the very least I hope his god damn pride is going to do him something good, and just make him too prideful to acknowledge ''defeat'' He stands in front of a wall. A wall, which he has been at before, and crushed before. Judging by his stubborness, and my undying faith in him, he's just going to keep punching at that wall until it crumbles. oh oh this sounds exciting!!! he loves sweet stuff (i think all kinds of stuff), and stuff with lemon flavour and white chocolate
should we do this twitter thing at one day each week so he gets a ton of messages at one day and not some over the week? i think this is more effective

And this thread isn't ruled as a democratic system or, even worse, a consensus based community. We have the primus inter pares who makes decisions: Whole.

I think this idea is cool, and I support it. I do worry, however, that the only thing that will REALLY cheer Idra up is winning. He is a competitive guy.
|
Just realized something. I may not be a hardcore IdrA-fan like some people in this thread but I really love his playstyle and he is by far the StarCraft player I want to win most. I really wish he will get back from this backlash soon.
However, I was googling "A mutalisk for IdrA" when I found out that IdrA actually was the first player in tournament play to use the magic box technique. I don't know if anyone cares about this, if it's completely true or if everyone already knew but it made atleast me a bit more hopeful about the future. I think and hope that he will get back to the shape he was during the beta and release of the game (the best foreigner?).
I'm gonna support this project and let's hope it will be as successful as the JD / DRG ones!

If anything, Idra would be one of the best coaches.
