I just don't think Idra has what it takes anymore to push above 'upper tier'. He's great, don't get me wrong, but he just can't compete with these players with his mindstate. He could have easily beat Oz 2-0 but he mentally keeps holding himself back and putting his confidence into situations where he can't win.

I think as in BW, he's just a B league player. Good enough to win here and there, but can't compete with the big dogs anymore.

Maybe this is just the argument that is made after every loss, but really, only Idra is holding himself back. Until he can get over himself, we'll continue to see these showings.

I really enjoy watching him play but he just needs to take that next step like everyone else above him has.

Yea, no. He has top 20 TvZ, top 20 ZvZ. His ZvP is shit right now, ofc, but look at a vod from 3 months ago and a vod today and his play looks exponentially better. Think about it, he used to not be able to take games off of the bset toss, he just went 1-2, shouldve been 2-0, vs Oz, top 5 Protoss with excellent PvZ.

IdrA is holding himself back somewhat, but what really matters is him dedicating himself to practice so he becomes a more confident and whole player overall.

But I don't think it's 'more practice' that he needs. I think he has too much confidence in his play where he thinks I'll just win now and then boom, he loses. Then he plays the unbalanced card.

I think he makes too many excuses and just holding himself back because of it.

He's an awesome player. I know. I enjoy his stream.

Of course, no foreigner will be in the top 10, or even top 32, for a long, long time. Also, I don't think you can make calls on whether he has 'to much confidence' or whether it's just bad play.

Honestly, though, Oz is one of the big dogs right now. Those were close games. It's not like Idra sucked and gave up; he put himself into really good positions. Oz played really, really well. The game on Daybreak, he handled the muta/ling harass really well and hit just before Idra could get out lots of infestors. The game on Shakuras, his forcefields were absolutely perfect, both during the sentry harass and the fight at the 3rd. If he hadn't hit those, he loses. He did hit them, so he won, because that's how forcefields work. Other than the upgrade situation in game one, it's hard to identify a facet of Idra's play that wasn't good enoguh.

And maybe that's it. I'm trying to hold him up too high. It is still definitely a korean game. I just want to see him win. lol

I truly believe he can be absolute beastly, just have some things holding him back.

really? idra actually made a series with oz on his worst matchup. He did great and i think this upcoming series against nestea will really prove how much he has improved or how little he has improved.
