They are the true representatives of NA imo, not taking any credit away from Sheth and Select. But Idra and Huk are becoming the face of Stacraft esports in NA. And i honestly believe Idra can become to starcraft 2 what Boxer was for Broodwar back in the day, he just has to win a GSL ![]() Don't discount everything he has done for the game thus far. I think IdrA is the #1 reason eSports and Starcraft2 in general have accelerated their growth pattern over the last year. IdrA fans are a bit different then other people who (in my opinion) are focused on a Win/Loss column, or who people have beaten recently and whom people haven't beaten. IdrA is little less than an icon, not only for North American Starcraft 2, but the sport in general. If IdrA is at any event, any game he plays in will likely garner more views than any other player, that in and of itself is an accomplishment. Hell, the only reason I play Zerg is because of IdrA, possibly the only reason I'm interested in the Starcraft 2 scene is because of IdrA, and I don't really care if I'm killing eSports if I stop watching or following a tournament in which IdrA is not participating in (or has been eliminated.) That's simply the nature of consumerism when it comes to any sport, and as this game escalates to a level at which it can be consumed and will be watched by the general public, IdrA will be at the forefront of that movement. (Please note that I don't want to discount what other Starcraft 2 community figures have done in growing the sport, notably SlayerSBoxer, HuK, Day[9], and many others, my point here is that IdrA is simply the main reason for Starcraft 2's ascension to the top of the eSports scene and likely will be the main driving force in allowing it to go mainstream) Listen, IdrA is my #1... but this is a bit much, don't ya think? i dont think so at all i think everything he said fact-wise, was correct. Idra does undisputedly garner the most views of any player(streams and threads) and his fans are diehard and stick with him for the most part through the good and the bad times. one month from now, The Stephano bandwagon will end, and he will be sitting next to Nerchio (remember how he was the next big zerg thing but noone talks about him anymore) but Idra popularity will never die. he summed up my thoughts (and many. many others) perfectly, i do the same thing for the most part. I was reading an article where they were describing the series between Idra and Boxer at MLG Orlando and it basicly said that these two players are the icons of starcraft 2, no other players garner such popularity and fans. Which i would agree =) Stephano and Nerchio will be at this upcoming tournament in Paris, if Idra defeats them and wins this whole tournament (which i think he is the favorite to do so) Idra's fame and prestige will soar to all new heights. Plus his return to the GSL, who knows how big Idra can become. | ||
