To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

The fuck just happened. I don't read for a few days and this thread just blew up more than ever, apparently with Moonwrath getting the ban hammer too. Glad to see Rainbow having another comeback though. Hopefully Crayon Pop too sometime in the near future.

Didn't like the CL song or MV either. It definitely seemed to have a lot of similarities with GD's recent stuff, i.e. One of a Kind, Crayon and Michi-Go, but wasn't as good IMO. I think that CL going hip hop like this was a good idea, but the song just isn't very pleasing to the ear and isn't catchy at all.

I also agree that I miss the old YG stuff. I liked Big Bang, Se7en, and Taeyang's solo stuff that felt more R&B and hiphop, as opposed to whatever they're doing now. Beyond the music, their looks/styles have gone a bit weird too. I feel like they're trying to be edgy and different, but so much that it's just coming off as weird. To be fair, it's been hit or miss, with some of the ideas coming off pretty well, but I sometimes wish they would go back to a simpler look once in a while. A balance of both would be nice.

Monster wasn't bad, I actually loved it, but that's pretty much it as of recent. I'd definitely agree that YG's direction is strange (at least to us here at the KMD thread). My big quarrel is GD's tracks lately. Crayon and One of a Kind and his other recent track are so terrible I wonder why people are even supporting that direction (referring to YT). Just my opinion but Heartbreaker was way better than all three of those combined. Now CL has some weird shit going on too with the YT video being praised. Is the YG fanbase really that "brainwashed" and just willing to support YG artists despite this series of bad music releases? Or do they actually like this type of music?

This is something I've wanted to ask people here since GD's Crayon, but I guessed I would have gotten answers like "YG train too stronk" or something like that, but with more and more songs like Crayon being out there I thought this was a good time to bring it up.

uhhh it's kpop. ofc fans of the group/company are going to say it's good.

Hm. I just feel if they are supporting it even though they don't like it, it doesn't necessarily send the right message towards music companies as it gives them the thumbs up that they're doing the right thing. If they want change they're going to have tho show dissatisfaction. I guess I'm not really good at conveying my thoughts sometimes (even now).

all fanbases are brainwashed in some way, and anyways most fans aren't rational enough to recognize the detriments of blind fan support.

in this way I feel it's better to become a fan of the music rather than fan of artists

Yeah definitely, that's a good way to put it it would be nice to be a fan of the groups for what they are too, but there's still that inherent bias that comes with being a fan specifically of the artists, since few people if any can separate love of the artist/personality with appreciation for the music itself.

And sometimes people just like a song because of the way it makes them feel or it reminds them of some happy time in their life or it touched them in some way, or they just liked the story in the MV, etc. It's not always about some sort of objective standard of "good music."

The EXO album was leaked

https://soundcloud.com/exo-xoxo
Baby Don't Cry was removed from Soundcloud but its on the album so here it is + Show Spoiler +

Actually a really good album I think, everything except Wolf sounds great. SM is starting to piss me off with their whole thing of having unpublic-friendly title tracks on really good albums. Especially in this case since exo is their newest group and hasn't released anything in over a year, I don't see why SM wouldn't want to increase exo's public appeal before starting to release tracks like Wolf. I would think that they know what they are doing because this album really is good, but then they go ahead and not only release Wolf, but they make it the title track. Baffling.

I never expected this to happen, but Wolf is really sticking in my head. It's just a huge-ass mix of avant-garde, extreme multisong quagmire and yolo and somehow it really appeals to me a lot. The powerful vocal interludes mixed in, and sections of pretty heavy groove kind of reminds me of older Super Junior with Don't Don and a few other songs, sort of has the powerful energy of 'Why So Serious?', but while SHINee's new album is more down to earth, EXO is a lot more directionless and expressive. It's weird but I think I like it better than IGAB.

Just listening to the rest of the album while writing this and the tracks are really beautiful! Anyway, definately putting Wolf in my ladder playlist! Thank you Hall0wed for linking <3

It's funny because they probably paid more for the lyrics and instrumentals to the title track than any other song on the album.
