The reason being is that the "cover" is produced as if it should be ready to be released commercially. There's multiple effects, harmonization, and backup vocals. Typically, when demos are released record companies have a very rough cut so that it won't be leaked out and used commercially. Say what you want about Kesha's performance, but this is too polished of a track to be a demo. Here's a demo that will be a Dr. Dre song in the Detox album that was performed by TI.
