The people who make these parodies generally aren't really talented or skilled. They're not paragons of dedication. Aside from the infinitesimal amount of creativity required to brainstorm a concept, they're just people with too much time on their hands and a video camera. If we started posting shitty covers of people singing k-pop I would find that unacceptable as well. Because it's not original content and they're not fucking good. Then like I said, just skip them. It's not like there's an overwhelming amount of GS parody content anyway. You can skip 1 video every couple pages or so, no one's making you watch them.

If this becomes acceptable though it could potentially lead to an overwhelming amount of parody content. We can't have a grey area "this amount of shitty content is acceptable". You can only say it's alright to drown the thread in them or it's not ok to have them. Every so often we have people getting banned for being "off topic". Because of a single j-pop video that was posted, or a text post about something random. These off-topic posts are currently even more sparse than the gangnam style parodies. So why is it absolutely not ok to have those but it's fine if we post AUSTIN STYLE (GANGNAM STYLE ORIGINAL PARODY MV - PSY) every other page?

So why is it absolutely not ok to have those but it's fine if we post AUSTIN STYLE (GANGNAM STYLE ORIGINAL PARODY MV - PSY) every other page? That's not a problem though. There's no need to address phantom problems that don't exist, the rules at the top is long enough as it is. Like I said, it's 1 post every 2 pages if that and it's 1 youtube link among 5ish per page. Just ignore it if you don't want to watch it. There's no point in creating unnecessarily restricting rules when the perceived problem hasn't happened yet. As for your second paragraph, it's because TL has standards, however loose they've been stretched in this thread. Off-topic posts are banned for being off-topic, parodies are not off-topic. And things shouldn't be banned because you, or you and 5 other people, don't like them. For example I hate those sungha jung guitar covers but I haven't bitched about them because others like them and they are relevant. The reasons why I would potentially push for bad covers to be banned (I don't like them, they're annoying) would be just as insubstantial as your reasons for wanting GS parodies banned. Plus it would be absolutely retarded to institute a rule for a fad that's going to die out in weeks/months anyway. Bottom line is that you can't push a rule barring content based on quality, because quality is entirely subjective. What you like others don't, and what you don't like others find interesting. Whose going to decide what content gets banned, and when?

No, they made a change a month or so back that was horrendous and causes substantial lag during initial page loads with youtube embeds. It was an overnight change with one of their new players. The lack of a full screen option is also tremendously unacceptable for an embedded player.

Wow you lost both drives or something? >__< If you're worried enough and/or you move around, sometimes backing stuff online helps as well, though obviously over 500 GBs of videos and pictures is... a lot... ;;
